A CMDR's Thoughts: Expanding the Fleet

04 Oct 2016Phoebus
Well, quite a few updates since the last log entry I submitted.

I settled on purchasing an Imperial Clipper as my general purpose ship whilst I am in the bubble. Normally, it would have been Moondancer, however, I feel as though refitting her constantly would be a burden to my wallet. As a plus, she already has a few modifications specifically for exploration that I really don't feel like losing, since all these stations refuse to put parts in storage at this time. But that's enough about Moondancer, let's talk about the iClipper.

I have got to say that I am loving this ship. What was just a spontaneous purchase has become a permanent addition to my fleet. After properly outfitting her with the basics for any general ship, along with purchasing some of the highest quality core components, I headed out to break her in. For all intents and purposes, I didn't even intend on giving her a name, but after that test-flight, I knew I was completely in love with the ship. As soon as I pulled back into starport, I purchased a bottle of champagne and christened the iClipper, giving her her official name "Eclipse." I know you are supposed to do this sort of thing before launching, but I was iffy on the ship until then. The flight was... well... for a lack of better words, completely incredible. I never expected such a large ship to be so maneuverable and agile, breaking speeds of 430+. She even beats my old ship in terms of speed. Speaking of which...

I finally got around to flying back out to 13 Trianguli. Normally, I don't head out that way, but I was a man on a mission. I rented out a Sidewinder as I intended on picking up ol' Shining Star from impound. Apparently, the guy I sold her to was... well... an Onion-head. Got caught flying under the influence about two systems over. Guy was arrested, and the poor ol' girl was locked away. I just received the message from the feds that they tracked the paper work and asked if I would like to repurchase the ship. I was hesitant at first, but I gave in as she was my pride and joy back in the day. Still reeks a bit inside the cockpit, but nothing that a good cleaning won't get rid of. She's still outfitted the same as when I sold her, which will make her perfect for mercenary/bounty hunting work. I was mildly upset, however, when I flipped her system on and discovered the druggy had changed her HUD colors back to the default orange and blue... Ew, changed that back to purple as fast as possible.

So, a fleet of one has expanded to three. Not bad for a week's worth of work.

In other news, I've been flying around to get to know the Engineers a bit better, specifically "The Dweller." Upgraded a few components on Eclipse, namely the beam-lasers and the power distributor, so she is able to fry any ship from the inside out. He refuses to give me his best equipment so far, but he has already agreed to give me rather decent upgrades. Guess I'll have to get to know him better. As for the other Engineers, one wants twenty-five modular terminals, and holy crud, that's an annoying request. Have never seen those in a shop, and only have gotten a handful from a few of the managers at stations as job payouts. Ugh...
