Commander Log Entry 01A:

Well, I guess you could say my transition back into civilization these last few days have had mixed results. G - 03 is sitting in the corner of the maintenance bay now with the fabled words of "It will be a while" so again I decide to head back out in G - 14 for some errands. One of the staff at the facility I am at has asked me for a favor. They would like some transmitter scanned on the face of some rock I couldn't care less about because it is having "faults". Okay guy, I get the feeling this is going to end up with me being wanted but whatever, I can use the Thermic Alloys they are offering. So I accept the mission, grab what I need for the trip and climb into my ship to leave. Now I understand that the "Civilized People" of the galaxy have rules... I really do... However... one question I have is why do they get mad when you try to help them out a bit? Leaving Klein Enterprise in the CD-46 14401 system, the quaint little station I call home, there is some dimwit who apparently had it in mind to do some no no's and get themselves a bounty. Fair enough, you do you commander. However, when said commander decides he wants to throw down with you and the system security forces, you would think that one could at least defend themselves, at least in the spirit of it. No, I help engage the trouble maker and guess what... I get a fine. If this isn't best way to start a day, I would love to know what is.

** 28 APRIL 3307 | - Mission Report Summary - | ** Planetary Facility Transmitter Scan **

Upon arrival to CPC 20 6743 System I proceeded to travel to the systems Navigational Beacon to requisition the required data I needed. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a commander, yet again, who was wanted and out picking a fight. Federal Dropships are not only ugly but they are easily outmatched when flown by someone with no idea how to effectively use them. Combat report is unremarkable, they weren't even able to get my shields below 75% before the threat was dispatched. The facility I am required to collect data from is on the surface of CPC 20 6743 2 A, course plotted for 1,842 LS away and cruise was engaged without further incident. Upon arrival to the site, my scans showed the facility on the dark side of the planet. Night Vision activated approach revealed the terrain was less than ideal however there was a patch of ground suitable for a safe landing. I was immediately greeted by three skimmers, all of which were listed as being bounty targets, who leave a lot to be desired in the greeting visitors department and the same can be said about the defense turrets. Skimmers dispatched and some careful cover to cover driving in the SRV landed me the intel I was dispatched to recover, the ship was undamaged other than some draining of the shield unit by the defense platform fire upon exfil of the site. The rest of the mission time can be listed as unremarkable. Mission complete.

Commander Log Entry 01B

After completion of the task asked of me I returned to the station to file my report and transfer the intelligence gathered. I received payment, 4 much needed Thermic Alloy units. I powered down the systems within the bay to go have a cup of coffee at the bar and see what else I could add to my errand list of the day, perhaps some trading? No, I probably shouldn't. I miss the black... being away from people. As I walk to the elevators from the hangar I shake my head as my feet shuffle through the trash left by others, one commander even left his PDA sitting on a bench down here... why is there even a bench at the elevators? These things aren't that busy to warrant a place to sit and wait.

Commander Logbook Entry 02A

After a nice cup of coffee, a chat with some friendly commanders and staff at the facility I decided to go have some alone time. I transferred my suits and equipment from G - 14 to G - 01 and charted a course to the Nervi System. Perhaps some time away from home will help me relax and get some of the troubles off of my mind. After arrival I plotted a course to Nervi 2 D. A moderate sized planet I hear has some spectacular views, but me being me, I had to bring a view of my own with this whale of a ship. Whale... makes me miss my visit to the oceans on Earth. I haven't been to the Sol system in so long I forget what it looks like, but I will never forget the life there. Life you don't see anywhere else really, at least not that we have discovered. Meh, enough memory lane. I have to get this thing into orbit and find a place big enough to set it down.

Commander Logbook Entry 02B

After setting this big beast down, I placed my boots into the dust and my explorer instinct went to work. First thing I did was noticed the abundance of plant life and the breathtaking views. Just a few more weeks and I will back into the black doing this for money yet again, the stars know I cant wait. They call for me and I wait impatiently to answer their calls. I must have spent the better part of two hours just climbing the rocks and investigating everything I was seeing, even though I have seen it all before, it is much like a new experience with each trip. I will attach some files so those who stumble upon this log in the archives can get an idea of the awe inspiring sights.

Commander Logbook Entry 02C

I returned to the ship and changed suits, I had successfully gathered some plant genomes, four species in total. I decided to continue across the surface for a short while until I found some rocky terrain that seemed unique considering the mostly stark mountain terrain surrounding it. I will never understand the lack of adventure some pilots have. Shuttling freight in one system their entire lives, missing out on this, these views...

To each their own I guess, if you would rather see nothing but orbitals, maybe a settlement or two then so be it. That just means there is more out there for the likes of me to discover. This right here is why I founded GGSC, I want to be able to log and annex as much information as I can, perhaps pick up some helpers along the way, but I can wait as long as needed. Now that I have enough experience, well, now that I feel I have enough experience dashing through the vast unknowns I need to get the foundation for my discoveries set up. I will settle to impatiently wait so as to ensure it is done correct the first time though. My goal is to find as many locations as I can which draw the attention, imagination, and attraction to. I want to database images of mountainous ridges, rock formations, ice formations, everything imaginable. Things that people across the galaxy may never see without us doing what we do. Sights in the files attached are in the bubble of all places, and I will bet less than 1% of the human race living in that specific system will ever see them. Call it a calling, call it crazy, call it whatever you please... but this is what exploration is about. This is what we do, find and document a simple rock formation, plant life growing like child where one minute it is a small being of life and the next it is a full grown wonder of nature. I have a lot to do, just plotted a course for the BYERU System. Maybe I will see what is there to get my hands dirty discovering, we will see.

Commander Logbook Entry 02D

Well I think it is time to close out this entry. I still have a full day ahead of me in attempt to occupy my time and prevent my mind from wandering too far out of the bubble for my own good. Now that I am safely docked in the BYERU System I think it is time to hit the bar and have a chilled drink. Perhaps someone years down the road will be digging through the archives and stumble across the logbooks of adventures and have a fire lit within them to come join in our adventures. A day will come when the adventurers of old will retire, pass on, or be lost forever in the void. I hope that my logbooks will provide inspiration for others to do the same, much as the logs of adventurers of old inspired me.
