Back at Sol

Current location: Galileo, SolSo, been a while again since my last log. I keep on forgetting to make them regularly because there is so much to do in the galaxy. Anyway, been busy doing a lot of different things. Had to cut my Guardian Ruin mission short due to a bug that made it near impossible to either land at a Guardian site or take off from one. I was landed at one of the sites and got stuck there while the Nav-comp got a software update. Every time I tried to take off after the update was done the computer crashed. Luckily it only affected the engines, all other systems kept running (thank god! Would not have been pretty if life support failed). After a few dozen attempts somehow I managed to take off. I sped back to Obsidian Orbital to hand in the mission and went back to Sol. I later heard that the update made the Nav-comp vulnerable to interference coming from the Ruins. A patch that came out later fixed the issue. I have yet to return to that mission.
However shortly after that the news started spreading that Ram-Tah had found additional Guardian sites thanks to all the Commanders that have done his mission. I have yet to get out there again and visit these sites. When I got back I decided to run a few CG missions and do some bounty hunting on the side with my shiny new Federal Gunship. I fitted it with a 6D Fighter bay, which can hold 2 different fighters, and has enough resources to print 16 fighters in total. I already had the Keelback fitted with a fighter bay but that ship is just a carrier. The Gunship can dish out a lot of damage. Got it set up with the usual dual laser and dual multi cannon I put on almost all my ships, and in the remaining weapon slots I have put 2 seeker racks and one large cannon. Just to try out its effectiveness. This loadout paired with a fighter and a lot of armor and shielding makes my Gunship a formidable force. It has become my mainstay ship for bounty hunting.
After the last CG I participated in I decided it was time to do something else. And since I was in Imperial space I decided to go do mission/cargo runs in the neighborhood to climb the ranks within the Imperial Navy to unlock the Imperial Courier. I noticed I was just 2 ships shy of owning 20 ships so I thought I’d grind my way to the Imperial Courier. However the rank up missions where all locked behind affinity wall, I had to become allied to be able to do the mission, this took so much time that by the time ranked up I had already bought an Adder and a Hauler. After that I decided to look what small/medium ships I was still missing and pursue the mission of owning all small/medium ships an independent Commander like myself could. Turned out I needed the Diamondback Scout and Asp Scout to complete that mission. Did a search on the Gal-web to find the closest station that sold these ships and bought them. So now I own all small and medium ships. I still have to buy the other two types of fighters but that’ll come at another time.
As of now I am not sure what to do next. Maybe participate in another CG, maybe go out to the new Guardian Structures or Ruins. I also want to start unlocking more Engineers and collect all the mats and stuff I need and start engineering my ships for more specific roles. I also want to go to a Thargoid Structure and get in to see the star map spectacle. I had been busy gathering the various Thargoid items but my ship got destructed by a Thargoid. I was flying my Diamondback Explorer at the time because that is the only ship I have fitted with a CRCR.
But for now I’m going to get to my favorite bar here in Galileo and catch up with a few old friends. It’s been a while since I was last here and I could use some R&R.
