THE ETERNAL CASE OF BIG VS SMALL

10 Mar 2017Renderer
Once explorer – always explorer! Even in trigger-happy situations, I prefer fast and light ships, with biggest possible jump range. Because, as I said, I like to choose between fighting to the end and bailing out with my rack still unscratched.

Cobra and Asp are both great for combat, especially after Grade 5 dirty thrusters modification. I could strafe, turn and boost at the same time, always staying out of the enemy's firing arc, almost never getting any hits, so even small 3A shield generator, though somewhat reinforced, is perfectly sufficient. Fighting in a big ship never looked like a good idea to me, just because I did not want to swap places with my favorite fat targets, like Pythons and Anacondas.

Still, I've decided to move on and try something completely different, because my brand new Cutter wasn't totally unprepared for combat. My first clumsy excursion was a short trip to Felicity Farseer, and I think she was not too happy about my new purchase. Don't lose your way, she said to me briefly, but then she saw the D class thrusters and her frown disappeared. Once explorer – always explorer, even in a huge combat ship. Grade 3 drive tuning allowed me to boost away in case of trouble, and Grade 5 FSD boost gave me a jump range well over 30 LY. Now, that is some mobility for you!

Now, I've managed to get to Maia without too much trouble and risk, and visit Professor Palin! He gave me Grade 5 dirty drives along with some nasty boost speed! That was a good beginning, but as I said before, I was too exhausted at the time, so I went out in my old 'jumpy' Asp. When I got back and fetched my Cutter out of the mothballs, I had another problem to solve.

How do I turn this light, fast and quite empty vessel into something that might help me with bounty vouchers and quickest possible raise in combat rank?

Do you like it?
