Suck laser!!! I mean, suck my four gimbaled medium-class lasers!!!

WARNING! TEMPERATURE CRITICAL!

What!? I just started firing! Come on, it's just a shieldless Sidewinder, it should be a quickie!

Damn Sidey is making a run for it, zipping around my Cutter, staying in the dead zone for just a few seconds to fire up its FSD. I simply can't turn fast enough to finish it!

FRAMESHIFT CHARGE DETECTED!

He's getting away, and I'm not even trying to finish him off, because today it's not about money or rank. Today is the first combat test of my freshly equipped Cutter. And I'm already aware of the fact that it's been a complete failure. Later, I sat though the police scan and killed a few pirates while testing my second firing group – large cannons. No apparent luck, gimbaled cannons appear to be too weak to my taste, so I'm gonna try something else. Something more damaging and fixed, too! Too bad they don't make railguns that big...

Back then, after my first sortie, lasers were my primary concern. After a few reactor and distributor upgrades I could not worry about power consumption, but what to do about overheating? The answer is: efficiency upgrade! Even on Grade 3, it makes things so much easier, both in terms of power and heat! Luckily, two of the four lasers ended up with  special effect called “Regeneration Sequence”, meaning regeneration for wingman's shields instead of damage!

Now, my four gimbaled medium-class lasers can be fired for as long as needed in really tense sorties! But what about close range, head-on, large caliber weapons? If not the cannons, then what?
