Part 17: Basic Training I

01 May 2017S. Hodkin
01 April 3296, Anthony De La Roche Barracks, LTT 5455

Coward, scum, lightweight. Just some of the adjectives used to describe the fact I was a conscript into the Federal Navy as opposed to standard enlistment. The abolition of the Conscription Act had passed a week late to avoid military service, and now it was to be at least two years of avoiding getting my head blow off or my ears burnt off, whichever occurred more often.

I know nobody, we’re treated like crap, and whatever war is supposedly going on, odd on it’s probably over which champagne the officers are drowning themselves in while we do all the dirty work.

It's going to be a long two years..
