I've been hearing a lot and many things don't make sense. Venus Aloy Duval, looking in the family register of the Duval family it seems they are 8 generations removed from the throne and connected to the imperial lineage through Lucius Duval married Aloy. The family is here, and Venus Aloy Duval herself is listed as former Dutchess, deceased. Date of death about a month and a half ago.
It makes sense, had the family been disowned they wouldn't be allowed to carry the name Duval anymore. And exile isn't a punishment extolled by the empire, it's impossible to enforce it in the first place. Not allowed to return planetside, yes, that happens. Stripped of your rank and station, sure all the time.
There is no public record of her trial, all I can see is that she did plead guilty to murder and that she had been stripped of her rank and station. Not even the constituency of the verdict. It looks too much like a setup.
Not for the first time, I regret leaving the ship for drinks, but it's too late. I can't but feel aggravated for having to deal with this much politics again. I left because of politics.
I shake my head, no, for now, I need to keep my head.
Make plans for getting to Diaz, get more information to follow the trail, and hopefully find the poison needle somebody stuck into the empire.
Jules, I think knows more than she wants to admit. She was in it for extra money but according to Diaz, she was his property. She doesn't care for Diaz' benefactor but if I'm right she should. I need more information but I'm not sure whether I can trust her. Nor if Silvia should trust her.
