On Corporatism and its ironic message

CMDR's Log: 06/04/3307As if crushing a mass murderer and seditious traitor to the Federation wasn't enough, Jupiter Division insists on staying afloat. Silver Legal and CMDRs aligned with them absolutely destroyed Jupiter Rochester and his ilk, but somehow never seized the Victory's Forge megaship? Makes you wonder.
Vice-Executive Blanca Carbonell is the latest deluded cult leader to take the helm proclaiming corporate rule is the only way to end government corruption. Really? We're going there? I guess we're going there:
In what universe is Corporatism NOT as corrupt as a 20th century hard drive? Certainly not this one. If there's anyone in this plane of existence that is less trustworthy than a politician, it's a corporate executive. Reaching all the way back to Earth history 1935, corporations fought to squash any voice their employees had. It's the whole reason trade/labor unions existed in the first place. Even much later, when people began to say "we don't need labor unions anymore" were instantly blindsided by the heartless, iron fist rule of their corporate masters necessitating the reinstatement of unionization. Nobody seems to learn from the history. Corporations used to (and still do) litigate any competition into oblivion because they didn't want any. They don't play fair, and they don't care about you. They simply want to squash government rule so they can have all the land they survey as their own without any restriction, regulation, or reprimand.
I was born in the Federation. I may not like Hudson very much, but I definitely feel for the citizens. Therefore, I do not believe an "any means necessary" approach to usurping the Federal government is the right thing to do.
If Jupiter Division were to win (and they won't, mind you), and overthrow the Federal government, the Federation will spiral into a corporate dystopia not unlike those seen in late 20th century screenplays. This is not a new concept. It's an old dangerous one that occasionally gets pressed in hopes people will forget what it'll take from them. Corporatism will make corruption the rule of law, and line their pocketbooks profiteering off the backs of every Federal citizen! The best way to end corruption in the Fed is cast your ballot.
Hudson's term is up in two years. The only reason his private spying initiative won was because he offered CMDRs a better reward than Winters did for their efforts. When 3309 rolls around, cast your ballot against surveillance and get your freedom back. Hold those in power accountable and don't give up any of your rights in the name of safety because they will push that button constantly.
The Empire faces a similar trial with the NMLA who are not unlike Jupiter Division only with a different goal.
But give in to corporate rule, a dictatorship that isn't bound by elections, and you give up everything for good. Make the right choice, my friends.
