Not As Much Of A Natural As I Thought

I guess I really thought this would be easy. What a dumbshit thing to think. I've been able to make a sustaining amount of credits through different missions, and avoid getting ganked in the process. But I spent way more credits than I should have just trying to get The Ceti Wolf set up for mining. Boy, was that a mistake. What in hells is going on? I've got a pretty damned good scanner and prospector. You'd think I could run across some decent rocks to mine. The only downside is that the Cobra just doesn't have much in the way of capacity, and I don't have enough materials accumulated yet to be able to synthesize replacement limpets. 32 limpets gets spent faster than a virgin boy in a brothel. Well, I stored all my mining gear, leaving myself with a pretty stripped down ship, as light as I can make her. I don't have access to any engineers yet, so I had to settle for A-rating the modules that make sense (and that I could afford) and D-rating everything else. I plotted a jaggy route to see if I could step up my credit game through exploration. It's a bitch to run an almost entirely manual route somewhere. I have no frigging idea how long this is going to take me. I guess I'm going to find out how much patience and perseverance I have. If I can stick this out, it should well be worth it.
I'm still hitting named systems. With named systems comes the very real possibility of pirates deciding to catch me, space me and sell my ship. I can't let my guard down yet. I should be out of the bubble soon, though. But one thing that's pissing me off royally is the fact that for some reason the environmental controls are running on the cold side, and that's just not my thing. And with me having to manually plot and execute better than 70 percent of my jumps, it's not like I have spare time to go track down the problem and fix it. Fly or repair. Can't do both, damnit. So, the best I can do for now is get up and job in place on the command deck when I am supercruising to a planet to drop some probes on it. That's helping. A little.
I let the fuel tank get too low, so I had to park for a bit around a main sequence star to scoop fuel. I took advantage of that to sit here, grab a bite to eat and make a log entry. There's not much room in the quarters, particularly since the Cobra is a two-person ship. But it's easier to keep warm while I eat. I just heard the computer AI indicate fuel scooping is done, so I need to get back onto the deck and continue exploring.
More to come, kids.
