Engineer Hunting

That sounded bad, didn't it? "Engineer Hunting"? I'm hunting for the stuff these engineers want in order for me to take advantage of their expertise. So, Marco Qwent needs some exploration data. I'm nearly done, but I got damned tired, honestly. The Cobra isn't a big ship, by any stretch of the imagination, but, ya know, sometimes you're just so tired and too lazy to get up out of the command chair to go back and crash in the stateroom. I parked the ship in orbit around a water world that had a singular ice cap and I shut off the cockpit lights, staring for a few minutes at the planet. Sitting in the dark, listening to the droning of ship's systems humming, I drifted off for a nap.

After about three hours I was surprised to be awakened by the sound of a bunch of something striking the ship. Well, the shields, anyway. While shields do a decent job of repelling/deflecting projectiles, you still hear the effect of them hitting the shields and, unless you have station-keeping thrusters on auto-pilot, you're going to feel them buffet your ship in space. Upon investigation I realized there was a small meteorite shower that had been drawn in by the water planet's gravity well and I was in the path. No damage to the ship, but it was a rude alarm clock.

So, just to be sure, I worked with Eden to knock out a quick integrity check of everything. I'll finish up the remaining exploration I need before heading to Marco for a talk.
