Day Of The Trifid

09 Oct 2020Ceti Fox
Yes, the day of the trifid. A little movie humor, there. So, here I am at Observation Outpost Epsilon in the Trifid Sector, about 5k and some change lightyears from the core systems. As soon as I finish the pre-flight checks I'll start my journey back to Arexe.

During one leg of the trip here I decided I wanted to set down on a planet that had some promising geologics that I could search for materials I needed, as well as get a decent night's sleep with some real gravity beneath me. The view was pretty spectacular and the bounty of materials was actually surprisingly large. I definitely do see the attraction of being an explorer.

I'm pretty anxious to get home, and for some reason the nav computer is spitting a handful more jumps on the return trip than it took to get here. And that's after four different tries. Doesn't matter. I'm not likely to plant gear on the way home...if I have to catch some shut-eye I'll drop out of supercruise, shut down thrusters and hit the bunk. Speed over comfort, this time.

I gots things ta do. Gear up in five.
Do you like it?
