What happened was...

Why haven’t I recorded a commander’s log in a couple of days? Well, you see. What happened was...I took a contract that required me to hack a data panel. It’ll be easy, they said. It’s abandoned, they said. No risk, they said. Well, they lied! They lied hard! I approached the little compound and I noticed that the automated trespass warning was still up. I should have known then. But, noooo! I just keep going along thinking that it’s just was on from forever ago. I land and get in my SRV and approach the site. My sensors pick up what appeared to be a deactivated turret. Ok, that had me a little weirded out. So I went wide to put it in between me and the target panel. It was at that moment, I realized. I screwed up. Six sentinel drones popup out of no where and start shooting at me! I J-turned that SRV and got out of there. I returned fire as one of the drones wouldn’t bugger off. By the time I made it back to the ship, Céleste was kind enough to inform me that not only had I been fined, I had a bounty! Luckily, I managed to get out of there before my SRV took too much of a beating. The flight back to the nearest station was filled with frustration and paranoia. Now that I had a bounty, I was fair game. I made it back to the station and explained to the authorities what happened and offered to pay my fine and the bounty. That jerk literally grabbed me and put me on the next transport out to a detention center. He didn’t even care to hear my side of the story. When I protested, he just man handled me and shoved me in the brig. What is this galaxy coming to?
When I finally got to the detention station and was waiting to be processed, one of the security officers was talking with me and I told him the story. Expect I was a lot more anxious and talking at about a million miles minute like some worked up teenager. The moment I finish, he burst out laughing and calls out his superior. “Hey, LT, you gotta hear this!” I have never been so embarrassed in my life. In that moment I think I would have rather had my parents walk in on me mid-shag.
The lieutenant came over and I explain everything, again. He too found my story to be humorous. He asked how long I have I been a Commander, which is only three weeks now. He just shook his head and asked if I learned my lesson. Oh, I definitely did. Only exploring and hauling from now on. That’s it!
Several hours later he said that I was going to be released on a warning and that if I paid the transfer fee to have my ship brought to the station, he considered it time served. I happily took him up on the offer. On the bright side the detention station was not that remote. However, it was remote enough that I was able to get some cartography data that covered all the fines and fees I had to pay.
The next couple of days were honestly dreadful boring. I took on a bunch of hauling contracts in my Asp Explorer, the Algier. Don’t get me wrong, I earned a good some of credits in a short while. I just wanted to beat my head against my control console. I was so bored. I get there is a lot of money in hauling, but I could never do it for a living. It gave me enough to outfit the Algier and have some left over. I spent the rest of my time working on the Dissent, upgrading her and gathering materials. I got her up to 49.67 ly jump range on full fuel. I get my 50+ly jump range when I’m at about three quarters. I’m so close. Just a few more upgrades and I’ll be there at full fuel plus some cargo.
I’ve decided to test my new upgrades out buy going on a small expedition to the California Nebula and exploring around a bit. I also added an imaging suite to the Dissent so hopefully I can start adding some pictures to the logs as well. With any luck my next log will be from inside the California Nebula! Cheers!
