Butterfly in Space

I will say with a 49 ly jump range I made it to the California Nebula in good time. I charted and scanned along the way. It wasn’t long before the California Nebula was in plain sight. It looks like a butterfly in space. I think it’s just the angle I approached, but it still looks really pretty. When I got closer it started to look more like a flower. There were some pretty awesome sights inside too! I found an angry face looking at me. Then a jump or two later it still looked like a face but not as angry. That is what makes exploring worth it to me. Finding stuff like that makes all the dull scanning worth it.

Now that I’m out here its given me more reason to upgrade the Dissent and Algier. If I really want to explore, I need to go father out. I know the California Nebula is kinda touristy and a place a lot of new explorers go to get a feel for it. It definitely shows as just about everything is discovered and mapped. Heck, I’m writing this log relaxing at a station. I’m definitely not in uncharted territory to say the least.

It has been nice to take a relaxing trip, especially after the week I’ve had. I was talking with one of the traders and he asked had I made it to Colonia yet. I never really thought about heading there, but it could like it could be a fun trek. Then the more I started thinking about it, the more i though it might be a good idea. I’d start by heading to Colonia. I’ll take my time there and scope some things out and just poke around. Eventually, I’d make my way to Sagittarius A* because who doesn’t want to see a super massive black hole? From there I’d journey on out to Beagle Point, as that’s the explorer’s rite of passage, or so I’m told. It’s on the far edge of the galaxy. I could care less about Beagle Point and more about the general idea of exploring a region of space called the Abyss. That sounds like it would be fun. I’m still a long way off from that though. I need to get a lot done before then. There’s even the question of do I want to take my trusty Dissent? It’s a small ship that’s plenty maneuverable with an impressive jump range. On the other hand, I’d be flying spartan. It might be safer to take a large ship that I can fit with redundant systems, but the I won’t be able to land at most stations along the way. Both have their merits and I have plenty of time to think about it.

Oh! I almost forgot I promised pictures!
