A Shiny New Toy

Wow a lot happened in one day. Bringing the Algier out to run courier missions was a minor mistake. My original thinking was just about every outpost has medium docking pads, and I have a little extra cargo space if I need it. Seems like a good reasoning, yes? That all sounded dandy until I was often waiting for five to ten minutes for docking clearance. And why is that? Simple, outposts only have one medium docking pad. Yup, only freaking one. I probably lost almost a million credits from missing time bonuses from some bimbo taking their sweet time getting off the landing pad. If I had a small ship I could land more readily. Lesson learned medium ships aren’t the best couriers.I called it quits with the Alliance after reaching Chief Petty Officer. I just couldn’t take it anymore. The constant delays and shuttling from station to station not making a much at all. Ugh. Naturally, I decided that since I was done putting up with the Alliance, it was time to deal with the Empire. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. I needed to make this more enjoyable, somehow. So I decided to buy a new toy.
Enter the Eclipse! My shiny new Imperial Eagle! She’s one pretty little ship. She’s also fast, like really freaking fast. Did I mention she was fast? I tuned her up to get a little extra jump range out of her. I don’t want to go too crazy as her fuel capacity isn’t all that. I got her to 21 Ly and That’ll do just fine. I’m using her as a high-speed courier, not an explorer. She’s so much fun to fly, and she can hold her own in a fight too! Perfect for a courier. I can outrun what I can’t fight. That is all I need.
The Imperial side was a bit more fun to do. It had more to do with me opening the throttle up with the Eclipse as much as I could than the work. It was still stupid courier missions. As I zipped back and forth between stations, I had this one annoying pirate that kept trying to interdict me. He never succeeded, but he was annoying. Then as luck would have it the Imperial Navy has a contract out on him. No time like the present to put the Eclipse though her paces. The next time he came after me I submitted to his interdiction. I was able to stay on his tail the whole time with ease. I’ve never had a dogfight go so smoothly. It was quite the contract too, I’m glad took it. It also bought me some peace for a little while.
Eventually the allure of the Eclipse wore off and I got bored with going back and forth. Since I’m now a Viscountess with the Empire figured that was good enough for now. Someday I’ll work my way up to Duchess and get myself an Imperial Cutter, but that’s a long way off. Especially since hauling and mining aren’t my thing. However, I am in need of a large capacity hauler. On my way back I found an Imperial Clipper that was on sale. At 17.4 million credits, I couldn’t say no.
So I’m poor again. With just enough money to cover ship insurance. Once I find a good hauling route for the Clipper, I’m more than sure I’ll get my money’s worth out of it. Just some more dreary hauling…yay.
