Patient 2784: Session notes

18 Oct 2021Malarial
Session notes for patient 2784

Attending Psychologist: Counselor Gillian Trager
Date: 18 OCT 3307

Patient ID:

The patient, Cmdr Luci "Malarial" Nerys, was referred to me by the head of carrier medical after a physical altercation with a subordinate put them both in sickbay.

Preliminary diagnosis done by Dr Chan cleared her of physical trauma, but identified ongoing mental stress as a likely cause of the aforementioned physical outburst.

From her file, it would appear that the commander is very intelligent and driven, but likely lacks social intelligence due to her isolated upbringing. Adding the absence of a strong mother figure only makes it more incredible that the commander has acheived so much.

During our first session, the Commander has been apprehensive, but still cautiously receptive. I feel confident that we will make postive progress rather quickly.

In the meantime, I have ordered the Commander to express their thoughts in a logbook, and have been granted read access through Dr Chan's authorisation so that I can monitor her progress.

Her first log was recorded just after our session, so I have appended it to these notes along with my initial thoughts.
Subsequent logs will also be stored, though I may not note on them.

Personal Log: 01 - [#$@!] you!

----------Recording Start----------

[#$@!]!  [#$@!] the [#$@!]ing [#$@!].  You strangle one guy and they try to put you in a straightjacket.  [#$@!]ing Counselor mandated personal logs.
[#$@!].  [#$@!]ing Kevin had it coming.  That voice just got on my nerves for the last time. The least he could do was pretend to know me, his employer.  But nooo, it's all "who are you again, commander?"

Alright, so maybe I do need to calm down a bit before I end up actually hurting someone. Luckily, Kevin will be fine.  Hopefully the compensation I've offered lets him forget about the incident.  On the bright side, his replacement is really fitting in well with the crew.  She actually seems happy to see me everytime I get back to the carrier.

Bright side. There have been some bright sides in all this chaos, and I suppose this is what these shrinks are trying to get me to focus on.
It has been hard to stay positive with all these soldiers running around everywhere lately.  Obviously it's understandable, and I'm grateful to squadron command for the protection, but they're just getting in the way everywhere.
After the latest attack on The Monty... the third [#$@!]ing one in as many months... I decided to embrace the opportunity and do a massive overhaul of the carrier's amenities. I have really been wanting to do this since I originally took ownership, so this really is a bit of a blessing in disguise... Yay optimism.

Gone are the dark, cramped corridors of the venerable Drake Class.  Everything just seems brighter with this upgrade. The snubbed nose cone has been replaced by a huge, spherical section that I have just filled to the brim with labs. I was like a kid in a candy store deciding what to install. The Stellar Cartography and Astrophysics labs got a nice, big sensor dish right at the top of the sphere, the bio labs got a huge containment protocol upgrade, and I even got to put in an expansive dining area and bar right at the very front of the sphere... I think it's on deck 10.

It makes me warm just thinking about it.  I think I'll just stop this [#$@!]ing log now while I'm riding this optimism and go check out that bar.
----------End of Recording----------

At first glance, though off to a rough start, I believe that this log shows huge amounts of promise. The commander has self-evaluated that she has a problem, and is trying to take steps in order to fix it. She will have to be taught that trading vices is not a healthy solution but the lesser of two evils will have to do for now, and this is a step in the right direction
