Searching for Answers #6: Center of the Galaxy

Patrick here with another entry.I was thinking about all that Thargoid stuff from the entry before the last one. So my father was in a group of four people and every single one of them played some role in that crew. My father along with Volt (whoever that is) was supposed to defend the rest of the group from any Thargoid attack. My question is, how was he going to do it without the Guardian weaponry? I thought that only Guardian weapons can hurt them.. Maybe my father didn't know that because I'm pretty sure humanity didn't know about Guardians in 3275. I managed to kill one of the interceptors a few days back, wasn't really that hard but again, I used Guardian weapons.
Last time my father wrote how he feels about my mother not wanting him to go into the unknown. He said that he does this because that's his job and he's doing all of it for the greater good.
Now he's in the center of the galaxy:

The absolute size of this giant is amazing, the only supermassive black hole in this galaxy. This view is indescribable, you have to see it for yourself to understand the cosmic scale of this object.
I'm dissapointed. We've been sitting in the center of the galaxy for over a year and the only thing we've found so far are two anomalies. But that's not what makes me sad. I am saddened by the fact that we have not discovered anything big for several years now, the last couple of expeditions have always ended in failure. I thought the Orion Team was better, that we could explore better. After all, thanks to our exploration skills we gained fame, we discovered a lot of previously unknown things. I don't know where this streak of misfortunes comes from, but I'm afraid it will spoil our name.
The worst thing about it is that because of the lack of results, it turns out that I leave my family for no good reason. If we don't find anything anyway, why leave?
