Seeking the Truth #11: Enlightenment

30 Jul 2021Patrick Bietruch
Hello.

In my last post, I told you how all I do as of late is supporting Andlit Co. as much as possible. Not much has changed since then, but recently I started to question the tasks that the faction is giving me. Usually, if they wanted my help in combat, I joined battles in wars. But now they are giving me missions that I don't even want to talk about. They want me to do their dirty work for them, and I don't agree to that. Besides, I've been their puppet them for a few months now and so far I don't see any results. They said clearly: I will help them, they will help me. So far, only half of this statement is true.

It must end. It's time for them to help me. I plan to visit the head of Andlit Co. and talk to them about it. Maybe they forgot about me and my case?

By the way, I finally met up with Monarch. We talked face to face. I learned a few things, namely what happened to him when their group was attacked by the Federation, what was my father really after, and what Max himself, one of Orion's Team members, thinks about his boss's disappearance.
After separating from my father's group when it was attacked by Federal agents, Monarch saw all three members jump out of the system. However, he himself did not make it in time and the Feds intercepted him before he could escape. They quickly neutralized the engines in his ship and took him captive. While he was being held, they made him spill the beans and tell the Federation what the Orion Team was planning to build.
Speaking of which, what Orion's team had been up to: it began with a desire to go down in history. To do this, the group had to discover something new and previously unknown to humanity. They tried to find something worth their time for many years but couldn't find anything interesting. Eventually, they managed to find traces of the Thargoids in around 3280. At the same time, they found an even more interesting trail. What could be even more interesting than an alien life? Intergalactic travel. In 3283, they took over the plans to build a device that, in theory, would be able to move people to the LMC in only one jump. It was called the "Magellan Project" and as the name suggests, it was supposed to transport you to the LMC. It was this very discovery that forced my father to pursue his dream of becoming an discoverer and leaving home. The rest of what Monarch told me I knew beforehand. They started building the machine, Andlit Co. offered to help, then the Federation started sniffing around, and eventually Max was captured.
As for the Monarch's theories about my father and what happened to him, he has three. The first assumes that they managed to use the intergalactic jump machine and right now he is more than 150,000 LY away from us with his companions or alone. The second theory I don't like the most is that my father was killed by the machine when it exploded moments after being activated. The third theory is that, just like Monarch, my father was intercepted by the Feds and is held in federal prison to this day. Each theory assumes that the machine has been completed. This is because it is true. I saw the ruins of this construction myself in the Atlas system at the very beginning of my journey.

Few other things worth noting that Max told me are that he had never managed to get in contact with the rest of the team. There was four of them originally: Christopher Bietruch was Orion (my father), Aiden Foster was their fighter guy and had a nickname Axe, Xavier Robinson was their engineer and was called Volt, and Max O'Lone played the role of recon.
After spilling the beans to the Feds they let him free but told him he must never try to contact any of his teammates ever again. Of course he didn't listen and tried to do so anyway but to no avail. When I asked about the scanner he got me and if he himself tried to follow the trail of the echoes of the past Max replied that he only discovered the first source in Atlas system but didn't want to follow the next one. He told me he prefer not knowing what really had happened to his friends..

That's it for now. Soon I will be talking to the leader of the Andlit Co. to remind him of my case.
Do you like it?
