The Majesty of the Milky Way

Commander's Log, Pathfinder PurpleGranite reporting - 16-Nov-3302, 00:40Jump-Scoop-Scan ... Jump-Scoop-Scan ... Has life really come to this? I've made it without shoving my passengers in an airlock and slapping the emergency decompress pad - barely! At least 200 tons of gold doesn't insult you on an almost hourly basis... However did I think trailing around a bunch of ungrateful, moaning tourists would help eliminate the ex-wench from my mind!
I knew I was nuts! If I make it back from this ......... trip ... I must go directly to a psychiatrist - a real one, not one of those robo-shrinks - and work through some of this stuff. On the other hand, that's probably the best way in the universe to burn through 93 million credits in a few days! I wonder if there's any decent shrinks out at that "new bubble" I've heard about ... What's it called, Covonia? Calamitus? Colonia ... that's it ... maybe I should swing past on the way home.
Anyhow, made it the Checkpoint Beta, had to make a couple extra jumps to find somewhere to set the Dunvegan down for the night. We're now 1,775.21 straight-line light-years from Ceos. Would have been much further if it hadn't been for that slight deviation at the start of this journey. Still, it's bagged a few extra scans - maybe even enough to persuade both Farseer and Martuuk to show me some of their top-level merchandise. It'd be real nice to have a decent jump-range enhancement on the underpowered FSD fitted in this Python - seriously, which junior engineer at DeLacy decided a class 5 FSD would work in these things!!
Grumble, grumble .... Couldn't resist taking the SRV out for a run after so many hours sitting in the cockpit, so glad I did, it was well worth sending out a camera drone to capture this stunning view!
Sitting out there, in the silence of the SRV, just staring at the light of the core reflecting off the hull of the Dunvegan ... it's almost as if ........ No, only almost.
