Back to the stars, Searches for Thargoids, Parting of ways

::CMDR Vizz Curio on the Jupiter Jazz, docked at outpost Serre Point, Katta::
::personal log::

I got my ship fixed and running with the new parts a few days ago, but on that night it was so late and I was so exhausted I didn't dare fly.  Decided to spend one more night at Snyder E and hopefully never again. I guess it was a good thing to let the paint dry; in my boredom and in honor of getting back to the stars I had the Jupiter Jazz repainted from blue to a nice purple. Well, it's not as dark of a purple as I thought from the brochure, but it's fine.

Saturday I took off in a rush to Jameson Memorial to spruce up my ship further with some parts I had in storage there.
Meanwhile I learned there's some fancy shindig going on in the near future in Lave, and there is a request for the fanciest, rarest items to be delivered to some guy. Lady luck must be smiling at me once again; I grabbed as many of the "mystical" Waters of Shinrarta as I could haul and made a trip to Lave for delivery.
After dropping off the goods I popped over to Warinus. A contact I have there said I should stop by and see what they've done with the planetoid. See, I remember when it was just a fresh planetoid in the beginnings of being mined. Now it's hollowed out and there's a whole base built into it. A marvel of engineering.

After this sight-seeing, I met up with CMDR Delco and we headed for Maia. While I spent the week grounded and grumbling, I was hawking the news and have heard rumors of Commanders being pulled out of hyperspace by Thargoids!  We wanted to talk to some people at Obsidian Orbital about it.
What we learned there was that there have been sightings of Thargoid ships around the Pleiades, and the encounters' frequencies have been increasing.

CMDR Delco and I started jumping around the nearby systems, looking for evidence to no avail. However I had added on a Detailed Surface Scanner so I was collecting scan data for later profit.
Hungry for Thargoid-anything, we headed back to HIP 17044 to take another look at the wreckage of the Federal Navy from the recent Thargoid attack.  I've attached several photos of the scene taken via my cybernetic eyes:

A Federal Capital Ship completely incapacitated:

In my Imperial Fighter I was able to fly very close to the hull of the capital ship to snap this shot of the residual corrosive material used in the Thargoid attack:

The hull is still smoldering as this acid-like substance is still eating away at the metal.

A Federal Dropship ruined by the Thargoid corrosive weapon:

A while later I landed at Stargazer, another asteroid/planetoid base, in Pleione.
Lennox was so shaken by the Thargoid attack scene, I had lost her. Mentally. She insisted I relieve her of service (she was still on probation & at-will service with me, no contracts signed yet so free to go at any time) and that she was going to stay there on Stargazer for a while, contemplate life and all that jazz. I tried to reason with her, suggested I could at least take her back to the bubble, to civilization, but I know all too well that no one can snap you out of Existential Dread. Only you can save yourself from it, if you have the fortitude.

::CMDR's log supplemental::
I hadn't felt like she was the pilot I need. She was too shy with engagements, didn't commit to her attacks enough, spent too much effort on being defensive during a firefight. I need a crewmate as calculating-then-aggressive as I am, and I think I've found her: Sheila Weaver, former Imperial Navy fighter pilot. So far fighting with her in a HiRES in Katta has been a great experience, I think I'll keep her around.

::end amendment to log::

So I left Lennox at Stargazer, and I flew to 64 Arietis, docked at Weyn Dock starport. Decent place with decent people; good enough for an overnighter. And I needed a stiff drink.

I spent today cruisin' the stars. Found a new crew member who seems a good fit, made a couple of million spacebucks from bountyheads in Katta. Gorgeous wide-band rings around a huge gas giant here. But this Serre Point outpost is as basic as they come. Nothing worth staying for here.
