On Deceptions

::CMDR Vizz Curio on the Jupiter Jazz, docked at outpost Gorbatko Terminal, Niu Hsing::::personal log::
I love outpost stations. None of the formalities of traffic controllers at starports. Rarely anyone else flying around so I don't feel like I might get jumped. And no cops so I don't have to worry about an overzealous quota-filler trying to frisk me with a tampered scanner.
Gor-ba-taco. Mmmmm, tacos. I love tacos. And Gor-burritos too. Hehe.
Gorbatko Terminal is a small outpost, nothing fancy. But I've got contacts here, and a plan to get myself a Fed Gunship soon. That requires upping my reputation with the Federation, but I'll never enlist (who wants to be a military slave?) so I'm doing things in a round-about way which will get me verified in their systems. A "friends of friends" kind of thing.
Zaya and I had been tag teaming criminals in the ice rings of a huge, blue gas giant in Asellus Primus recently. She's doing very well and now ranked as Expert with the Pilots Federation, as I am. We've racked up 6 or 7 Million credits in bounty claims, which put us in the top 10% of commanders contributing to the Pilots Federation's peacekeeping initiative in that system. Those sweet, sweet 28 Million big ones are coming my way for that participation once they've allocated the funds for distribution in a few days.
While Zaya was pulling back in to the Jupiter Jazz for our departure from hunting for the last time in Asellus Primus, I took this camera drone photo of the ships in the ice ring with the huge blue gas giant planet:
Now, CMDR Delco was in Lave when said he had gotten a hot tip on some easy money in an out-of-the-way place that's not far. He was told the kinds of people in this particular system can hook us up with verified Federation merits without enlisting in the navy. He and I both have our sights set on owning Federal Gunships, and not using them for the glory of the Fed president what's-his-name.
Fast-forward -- I now have the favor of the controlling factions in the Niu Hsing system. (That's pronounced "noo sing" -- the locals get annoyed if you try to think you're fancy and say something like "nie-yoo huh-sing"!)
Everyone loves me, and I intend to keep it that way. The more friends I've made here, the more opportunities have opened up for me.
Some navy-nobody came and found me tonight, offered me a short-range data courier mission to seal the deal on upping my credentials to the next rank in the Fed's books. Done! Just one more advancement and I'll be qualified to purchase that Gunship on my own; so close now.
