Returning from the south trip

03/09/3307 - Iris Vacations, FW Cephei System - Ship ID: RKH-PKFirst of all, i cannot stress enough the importance of taking every precaution against space madness. It's a real issue, and can have serious effects on people.
After a big hangover, coming back from Rackham's Peak, i had an epiphany: "I'm going to Xibalba. I'm going to Explorer's Bar & Grill, because bar and because grill. You only live once!". Well, i was wrong about the first, and started to have doubts about the last.
So i entered this Krait Phantom i have here and started. The first base i would take shelter in would be Hell Port. And that was my first mistake. I didn't pay attention to the permit-locked wall between the Bubble and there, and went by the eastern path. Took me a while looking at the map, and plotting routes, and synthesizing FSD injections to get through there. No, i wasn't patient enough to go around. But eventually it ended up okay, and i got to arrive at the FIRST waypoint.
Then things got relatively easier as I made my way to New Beginning base, and from there to Station X. But it started to get REALLY boring. When i got to Station X i started wondering what was i thinking when i decided to do that. Then i made the most sensible choice i could: i paid someone to get me another ship at that base. A better suited, further jumpable DBX.
It really saved me.
It was a looong ride between there and Leo's Vision, the southernmost carrier, and closer to where i was. I didn't bother going through Serebrov beacon, this time i took the way around the gap. It was an ok trip, despite the distance. Slept, ate my breakfast, departed, and some time after, i finally arrived to Livingstone point, and to this sight.
Someone might think that the blackness of the void, the smallness of the galaxy behind, the unusual sightseeing would be the things that would take away my sanity. But no. It was this vision here:
It showed me that i had to go this same distance lenght another three times before i ARRIVED at the place. Circunavigating the edge of the galaxy. And BACK. Without shortcuts, without any other path than the same i took, because it's a galactic arm, and i can't go through the low density gap with this tiny ship. To see almost the same sight that i was seeing here. I wanted to. I tried to. But i couldn't do it. I almost went mad. It was insanely, overwhelmingly boring. I was banging my head against the holographic panel. Then i went back. To Leo's Vision. And to signs of human life again.
The exploration credits were really good to me this far, so i paid another pilot to bring the Krait Phantom from Station X to Leo's Vision, so i could at least change the scenario a bit, to make my way back to the Bubble. But of course, i wouldn't just take the main route. Since i didn't get my grilled beef and my overpriced beer, i would try to hear about some spooky stories. I would go to Formidine Rift and the Zurara remains.
On the way i landed badly on a planet, when i tried to stop and rest. And i made my first call to the Hull Seals, so i could make a more peaceful trip. Kudos to these guys, they are awesome. Also Kudos to KTL Frontier Sanctuary, the carrier near the Zurara, that gave me a decent repair service and a good amount of exploring credits when i arrived.
And, well...spooky stories.
Seriously, what was i thinking when i had this idea? After nearly gone mad in the void, i go to a place where i read and hear and see those kinds of tales about ghosts, and Raxxla, and conspiracies, and praying to afterlife gods and getting killed or tortured.....
So, after visiting every settlement and hearing every audio log, i went into another booooooring trip back to the Bubble, and here i am. I cannot say it wasn't worth it. But it was a tough ride.
I'll never again make a big decision in a bar.
