I just picked up a signal updating Galnet, and it appears the situation in the Bubble is bleak. The Empress herself being on ice for a year, and no peep from anyone that something is amiss. What decisions did she "make" while being puppeted by the traitors in the Senate? I can't find when she went in hiding, but Hadrian Augustus Duval's status was delivered by Blaine, instead of by the Empress herself. She wasn't at the Summit either, having Blaine fill in for her.
I don't understand how something like that could possibly slip by everyone that is close to her. She surely must have her personal staff. Did those traitors kill them? I am glad the Princess spoke up, but I am curious why she didn't speak up earlier. She surely must have noticed something in her personal conversations with the Empress. They know each other well, and someone puppeting her can't possibly know the ins and outs of their conversations.
She must have noticed that something was amiss. Mark my words. We haven't heard the last of this yet. And for once, I am not sure I will like what is said when the press turns every stone upside down, exposing just how deep this rot goes.

Waypoint reached. Quite a few planets here, although nothing able to support life unfortunately. I took a couple of pictures of a moon and its rocky satellite orbiting a ringed planet, with the Giant in the background. Despite being over 1000 ls from the star the star is gigantic. I suppose not surprising considering it is called a giant. I took a picture of the ringed planet eclipsing the star as well. It looks odd in a way, but also pretty cool. I decided to also drop in the rings, even though this exploration craft is not outfitted to withstand the barrage of loose rocks. The view from there is otherwordly, but I have to get out of here before the rocks wear down my shields.

This giant is right next to the previous giant. I sometimes wonder if it is weird to visit these stars on their dying beds. Then again, it is commonly accepted to abuse dead stars for their neutron boost also.

The next sector over, there are two more giants. This is the first one. There are three valuable planets here, but luckily for whoever will consider starting a colony here they are not around the giant but instead around an A-class secondary star. Unfortunately for me, they are a 100k ls away. I better get going if I want to map those. Now that I am here, I noticed that the system around this star is perpendicular to the galactic plane. An odd place indeed.
[ 17 02 3308 | Inferred location: Graei Hypeia LO-X d2-218 ]
And here is the second system with a K-class giant. As it turns out, I also have to map 5 terraformable planets. I suppose my humble self will fulfill his duty to humankind mapping them... and bagging over 12m in data once I return. I mean, I can't complain.
Selecting the next star on my list I noticed an A-class giant on the way, so I will be stopping there instead.

We have quite the collection of planets here. 57 bodies. There are at least some biological signals here. Not much interesting to look at though, which is a shame.
[ 17 02 3308 | Inferred location: Blie Aick FH-Y b2 ]
I set out to scan some of the biological signals here, but the scanner seems off. The fonticulae seem to extend much further than the scans suggest and I am having trouble finding the fungae that are supposed to be here. At least the scenery here looks interesting.

Made it to the A-class Super Giant. It also has 56 bodies! There is some life on these planets, but not on bodies with an atmosphere. I expect the life to only be on geological features on these bodies.
Update: I was wrong. There are anemones here. I have never encountered those before. Even better, without an atmosphere the planet of this moon is visible just above the horizon, as is the the super giant itself. The view is stunning, and I am enjoying just looking out of the cockpit at this. That said, while scanning the anemones, the suit's thermo controls were unable to keep up with removing the heat brought by the super giant, and even after a few moments I started boiling in my suit. A decidedly unpleasant experience. I can only thank the creators of the SRV and the ship for building better thermo controls in those vehicles, or I would have been a gonner.

I'll stop here for the night. Another icy planet, another set of fonticulae. There are at least a few cliffs as backdrop for my rest, but honestly I am getting a bit sick of icy planets. Can't we just have an ELW where I can land or something?
I kid, I kid. It wouldn't be an ELW if it only had a hint of an atmosphere, and if it would have an atmosphere my paper Krait Phantom would be shredded by it. But still, something a bit more lush than the same icy planets with the same fonticulae would be nice...

I have made it to the Perseus Arm region. Hopefully this system is not a taste of what is to come.

Waypoint reached. Nothing else here other than the K-class giant and two other stars.
[ 18 02 3308 | Inferred location: Oob Flaae WD-K d8-56 ]
Well... this system is even more boring. Only the one K-giant and nothing else. Who cursed this sector?
[ 18 02 3308 | Inferred location: Lyambae OC-B d1-44 ]
I'll stop here for the day. There have been quite a few bodies with plants, so I haven't gotten as far as I wanted to. I should be able to get near my destination tomorrow.

I made it to my waypoint. This K-class giant is next to another K-class star. Not for very long though. If you look at them side by side you can appreciate just how big a giant becomes on it's death bed. I wonder what will happen when the healthier of the two gets absorbed in the dying one. The photo I took is at 30ls distance from the smaller one (pictured to the right). On another bright note, this system actually has three terraformable planets, although they are around the third star and require 150k ls travel.

Just 5 jumps from the last system there is this system with 2 K-class giants and a brown dwarf as the first body to orbit these two giants. Unfortunately not really photogenic though, so I will continue onwards to my next waypoint.

...which is a a-class super giant on ly 61 ly from the last system. There are only two other bodies in this system, both superheated rocks of magma. If anything was able to survive under those conditions, it would be unlikely it will now with the star blasting their surfaces.
This would have been the time where I started my last leg of this part of the journey, but it was 98 jumps and... I didn't really feel like doing that many jumps in succession. Luckily for me I found another three K-class giants on the way, so now I have more than 98 jumps to go for that waypoint, but split up in chunks of 30-40 jumps, which helps with the monotomy. 27 jumps until I reach the next waypoint.

Ah, my first ELW in this sector. Now to find someone that wants to live this far into the black. Maybe it will serve as a fine vacation destination for the Princess.

Waypoint reached. The giant is a fairly standard giant, at least as far as I have encountered them. Next stop is 25 jumps away. For today though, I think I will stop here. I need the rest.
[ 20 02 3308 | Inferred location: Dryooe Pre HB-W c18-21 ]
Randomly arrived in a system with 6 stars. For some reason that's usually all there is in these kind of systems.
[ 20 02 3308 | Inferred location: Agnaiv HX-A d1-175 ]
Another waypoint, another giant. There are a lot of bodies here, but nothing really to write home about. Or to write in my logbook about either.
[ 20 02 3308 | Inferred location: Agnaiv JU-X b34-10 ]
I just scanned my 10.000th star. According to my logs I have visited 7k systems so far, which seems... high. I feel like I have visited way more systems with more than one star than I apparently have.
[ 20 02 3308 | Inferred location: Phrooe Flye PD-Z d1-430 ]
There. Made it. It is a relatively small system, and not much to say about the giant either. Onwards I guess... tomorrow.
[ 21 02 3308 | Inferred location: Phrooe Flye HH-U b36-16 ]
Nearly killed myself 2 systems ago. Reversed accidentally and speeded backwards back towards a planet I was scanning some plants on. I safely stopped myself 200 or so meters above the surface. Still, it is dangerous to lose focus like that.
[ 21 02 3308 | Inferred location: Byoomoea FB-W e2-31 ]
BIII class star reached. I said I wouldn't visit these kind of systems anymore, and in a sense I don't. This one though is in the same sector as I want to be, so I figured I would stop by real quick.
[ 21 02 3308 | Inferred location: Byoomoea VZ-O e6-45 ]
Endpoint of this leg reached. I made it to my collection of 4 bright B-class stars. No other bodies in the system, and they are grouped in a such a way that it is hard to make a great photo of them. Still worth it to get to here.
It's interesting to look at the core systems once in a while. Compared to where I started, the band has definitely widened, and the overall brightness seems a bit subdued. That might have to do with the star I am hanging out with though.
