My next major target is a carbon star I accidentally stumbled upon when searching for a spot below the plane closer to the core systems. This system is the first waypoint. This route is riddled with M-class giants, this being the first.

[ 27 03 3308 | Inferred location: Eudainz DX-A d1-3 ]
This system contains a body with two rings, where the second set of rings is far enough out that I cannot scan that second set of rings. One of the moons around this body supports life, and is positioned between the first and second layer of rings. Unfortunately I couldn't photograph the rings from the planet surface, as the planet is neatly aligned with the rings, but I could get a photo from space once I took off.

PLANET WITH SHEPHERD MOONS

First jump of the day took me to a region with the illustrous name Izanami. It's the last sector before hitting the mass of stars at the center of the galaxy.

Waypoint reached. I just discovered that I managed to delete my next few waypoints, but through tracking further, and searching the star map in this specific direction I managed to find my CN star again through some sheer luck. I am missing some of my waypoints though, although I did find two KII-stars.

Right next door there is a system with two MIII stars. They have very similar characteristics. The third star in this system is of a similar age, but appears normal. I doubt it will be long before that one too will start to balloon though. One positive sidenote of losing my previous waypoints is that I went through the galaxy again to find new waypoints, and I came out with 23 waypoints plus my final destination. Unlike the last time I found two stars classified as MS stars, one carbon star classified as a S-class star and one extra CN-type star. Downside of all of this: This is going to take forever...

Waypoint reached. A MS-class star is apparently an Intermediate low Zirconium Monoxide type star. According to my logs this is the 19215th star. According to the logs, only 0.022% of stars are of this type. I am surprised and humbled by the fact I have two of them on this relatively short trip. MS-type stars are M-class stars that are at the end of their lifetime. They will eventually become Carbon-type stars - C-class stars - hence the intermediate in the name of the star. It is yet unclear to me if there are other classifications of intermediate steps, considering this one specifically mentions the low Zirconium Monoxide content of the star.

Made it to a S-type giant. Those are Cool Giant Zirconium Monoxide Rich stars. This is the 19908th discovered S-class star. According to the stats that is 0.023% of the stars. This star is 30.47 solar radii. The record for smallest S-class star is at 29.09, so unfortunately just slightly too large.

Another waypoint, another giant. Considering the number of giants I am going to visit, I will not write a message for each one. If there is something interesting to say about one of them I will obviously write something about that though.

This system had four terraformable HMC's, so it will fetch me a nice price once I get to it. One of the planets contains bacteria, and while I haven't found those buggers yet, I did experience a nice sunset.

Made it to one of my other M-class giants, and this one has an ELW and two terraformable HMC's. Some people might wonder what the point is of cultivating and exploiting a planet around a dying star. Those people do not consider though that their life expectancy is an order of magnitude smaller than the life expectancy of that red giant.

Onwards I trod, onwards I go. The core systems are rounding out a bit now, although I have to get further away still from the plane to get a better look I think. Still, I love the view.

Landed on a moon that has a moon-satellite orbiting it. It makes for nice photos.

On a short journey between two giants, I found a system with 5 terraformable HMC's and two water worlds. Making bank right there.

[ 06 04 3308 | Inferred location: Hypaa Gria CM-M d7-3 ]
Made it to the 13606th CN-class star. These stars have a very narrow band of characteristics, and mass and radius are very average. The temperature is on the hot side, but not record-breaking by a long shot. Funnily enough there is also a terraformable HMC here. Maybe they can make a tourist outpost here.

TERRAFORMABLE PLANET AROUND CN STAR

[ 08 04 3308 | Inferred location: Hypaa Gria NO-H d10-2 ]
Arrived at another MS-class star. For some reason I commonly end up having to travel to the secondary star in the system to scan a couple of terraformables and/or water worlds. This one is no different. Another 400k ls trip...

[ 08 04 3308 | Inferred location: Hypaa Gria UU-F d11-7 ]
Endpoint reached. This is the second CN-class star on this leg of the journey. The 13617th it appears.
