MissingSea's Deep Space Journal Day 9-18 22/8/3302 - 29/8/3302

After getting back to Jaques from my latest mining jaunt, I realised that my body was telling me I'd given it a bit too much abuse lately. This came in the form of aching joints, back etc. The weeks of zero-g coupled with the occasional landing trips on high-g planets hadn't done me any good. Now while Jaques Station is still trying to get itself back on it's feet, there are still the basic services available for pilots who need to get their bodies back in some sort of shape. So I decided to check myself in for the weekend for the full works, and boy did it make me feel better. The problem is, is that I keep feeling the itch to head out into the black, so towards the back end of day 11 I headed out again. I got further than I realised and I was beginning to flag (tiredness can kill especially when you're fuel scooping a nuclear reactor). Surveying the system I found a nice little moon, where I decided to spend the night...

...and the view wasn't half bad either.

After a low g meal on day 12 I decided to head back, as I had a further stint in the recuperation lounges booked. The return trip proved to be quite fruitful as I discovered this lovely ELW not 300ly from Jaques. When they sort out my atmospheric landings license I'll be heading down there for a nice beach holiday (granted I'll need to build myself a nice beach side hut, but it'll be worth it!

After another couple of days back at Jaques, I left for the great unknown, again heading towards the rim. No ELWs this time, but I did stumble upon an Ammonia World.

I also came across a few black holes, and even a black hole and a neutron star system. Now, I've been to these dangerous systems before, and I'd always heeded the warnings about getting too close to these ex-stars. Problem is, is that I got distracted plotting my next route, while in SC orbit of a black hole. The next thing I known is that the safety systems had kicked in and dropped me out of SC 25km from the black hole. Now this was an unpleasant experience, the gravity this close to a black hole is very high, and I'm very surprised I'm still here to tell the tale. The black hole was playing havoc with my ships systems and the optical effects from the warping of time and space was eerily mesmerising.

Suffice it to say that as soon as the FSD had gone through it's cool down I was out of there. I was planning on staying out for longer, but the last thing I needed was for my ship to decide that the close encounter of the black hole kind was a bit too much, so I headed back to Jaques to get my systems checked out, especially since my ships chronometer seemed to be glitching.

Except it wasn't, I hadn't taking into account the time dilation effects that close to a black hole, so I arrived back at Jaques thinking it was Friday. The problem was it was Monday, I'd lost 3 days!

Luckily, there was little in the way of damage to Jasmine, and after a quick drop into the medical centre, little damage to me.....

... note to self black holes are bad ok!!
