Four weeks of preparation and travel have gotten me to the Jodrell Bridge. The Shachi has sustained minor damage but is serviceable and capable of the survey duty ahead. I've reviewed the logs and the mysterious damage that the sensors were reading, is real. The engineer who worked on the ship had installed a faulty sensor in the port-side aft section. It was reading "100%" regardless of the actual damage. A bracket holding the sensor in place had cracked during the accident. Without the bracket, the sensor broke free during flight. Once it was out of the circuit, the remaining sensors gave the correct readings. I took the precaution of inspecting the remaining sensors and found no other problems. The fuel scoop is making an odd noise when I run the test suite, but it seems to be functioning normally. I see nothing that is cause for alarm.

While I was in the back of the ship, I found a box of knickknacks. The previous owner left it in one of the storage compartments. Why did they leave it on the ship? The box is full of personal items. There are some photos, a journal with no entries, a memory module, and a collection of smooth stones. There is a stuffed bear that must have lost its left ear years ago. Someone stitched the hole closed, so this must have meant quite a lot to someone. When I get back to the Bubble, I will have to find the previous owner of the ship and return their items.

For now, Mr Brown I have a job to do.
