Waiting Is Unbearable
25 Aug 2016Mara Korine
This is Thelonius Brown, stuffie sophisticate and Bear extraordinaire, making a guest log entry for Mara Korine. Pleased to make your acquaint-in-ance. Mara has been away for 72 hours. I'm alone on this ship, again. If she doesn't come back, I’m pretty sure I will be stuck out here forever. My god, this woman likes being as far away from civilisation as she can be, doesn’t she? Does she want to escape the human race altogether? Who hurt her so bad? That's what I want to know. I'll give him a piece of my stuffing that's for sure! Oh yeah, she puts a status report into these logs, doesn't she? Hmm, ok, let's see here. We haven't travelled that far. We spent way too long trying to find a route here. And now she's been down on that planet for 3 days! Wait a minute, here's the readout.
Distance from Sol: 58,181.15 Ly
Hull: 91%
Rovers: 1
Mood: ##REPLACETEXT##
Ah jeez, she reports her mood? How melodramatic. Well, that’s alright, Mara’s decent enough I’ll let that slide. She did rescue me from that cubby after all. After months of rattling around in the back of the ship like some discarded piece of trash! Is that what I am? Trash? Well not to Mara. She props me up in the cockpit here where I get a nice big view of nothing. A whole lot of nothing. But one day we’ll head back to the bubble and then maybe we’ll do something fun like bounty huntin’ or something. Naw she’s too sciencey and nice. She talks about taking bounties but I haven’t seen her pull a trigger. She’s better with rocks. When I’m not in the cockpit she puts me in the mess area. I have seen her slurp one too many a Nutritube. Those things look so gross, I’m grateful I don’t have a digestive tract. One time the stupid tube exploded and I laughed so hard. She had this green paste end up staining her hair for days. Blonde with a patch of green just above her left eyebrow. Funniest thing I ever saw! I guess she didn’t think it was funny. Her loss.
So how long do these things have to be? Blibbity blah, blah, blah...
Wait we’re moving! The ship is getting called back. She must be done digging up rocks. Oh, boy landings make me sick. But at least I’ll have some company again and chances are better that I won’t be stuck at the corner of nowhere and nothing forever.
BROWN OUT.
