Yuletide: Don't Cross the Delaware

I'll admit, I have my doubts about a 24-hour cease-fire. Not that the Thargoids won't respond in kind, but that we won't be able to pull it off. AXI has a lot of Hudson supporters, and if there's a faction that holds the galactic record for repeating history and learning nothing, it's the Federation.Very, very early in Federation history, in 1776 to be exact, there was a leading general who went on to become the first President of what we now know as the Federation: George Washington. This asshole had the insensitivity to take advantage of the celebratory nature of the 25th of
December by attacking his enemy, which were for the most part resting and/or inebriated. In doing so, he denied a significant part of the annual celebration from his own troops.
This move set the tone for Federal military tactics, denying enemies rest and recuperation, which evolved into more strategic and targeted forms of psychological warfare- and in the later world war interim period, these tactics began seeing widespread use against Federal citizens who opposed the leading Republican party, which still exists today with a strikingly similar ethos. Many such tactics have recently been deployed by the PDB, such as conducting routine nighttime live-fire training exercises specifically over and in low-income areas and slums of Federal cities, making it difficult for people forced to live in those areas to get a good night's sleep.
The Thargoids have deployed similar tactics, with unrelenting assaults on surface ports, even if those assaults are fruitless due to the majority of many of these ports being underground. But it's not like we haven't attempted to use the same tactics on them, using shift rotations to continuously combat the Thargoids in conflict zones.
It's about time such tactics ended, and it's about time we took our own rest from this war. Thargoids historically have been shown to not attack unprovoked for the most part, so it's likely that they will reduce aggression in proportion to our retreat. Honestly, AX pilots, you deserve the rest.
So, in short, don't be like George. Don't cross the Delaware. Get some rest. Enjoy life for a day without killing anything. Eat good food, spend time with friends and family, and be merry.
