AX Combat #4 and other.

Since my last entry I have been to Colonia and Sag A via the neutron highway, spent a little time at each and then came back to the bubble, the trip was uneventful and to be honest, a bit boring. On my return I took part in a couple of CG's and although I haven't been that interested in Fleet Carriers, I decided to buy one, discounted, money burning a hole in my pocket and all that, now I have one, what to do with it, I turned it into a mining/exploration support ship and went off down south to uncharted regions.
While messing around down there I heard that the Thargoids had attacked stations in human space, after a bit of thought, I stripped down the DBX and plotted a course back, due to the lack of neutron stars in this region it was going to take quite a few jumps, I was fortunate that I had left my AX Krait in the very system the Thargoids had attacked, jumping the Krait all the way back would have been interesting to say the least.
On my arrival, I transferred the Krait from the burning station to a nearby station along with all my AX equipment, re-rolled it to two AX Multis, two Gauss and a Beam and off I went to an AX conflict zone, it was an interesting situation, loads of Thargoids and other commanders, being a bit rusty and getting over confidant I managed to loose the Krait on my first run out (did I mention, I'm not very good at combat), not deterred, out I go again, and again, and again, lost the Krait once more to a basilisk but the number of scouts I'd destroyed more than made up for it.
Working with other commanders was fun, we were popping scouts like there was no tomorrow, then we would join up to take on the interceptors, I hold my hand up, I was the cause of a bit of friendly fire at one point and the other commander did turn on me, but when I just moved off, we both went back to fighting Thargoids. My combat rating and credits were going up and so was my confidence.
On one of my many sorties out to engage the Thargoids and joining other commanders in a fight against a basilisk, I ran right into a swarm, heavily damaged I jumped out for repairs and re-arm, on my return I couldn't find the others or the Basilisk, determined to re-join the fight I found a None Human Signal source close to where I'd left them, thinking they may be there I dropped out of Super cruise, nothing but a Thargoid component, just then another Krait dropped in.
Usually I'm highly suspicious of other commanders and their intentions, but this time I was a bit lax as all the other commanders I'd encountered in this region were all AX ships, wrong, he/she opened up on me straight away, maybe they were Thargoid sympathisers or they just enjoy what they thought would be an easy kill of a lightly armed Thargoid hunter, who knows.
Shield's down to half and thrusters went offline for a few seconds, when they came back up I hit boost, FA off and tumbled, hitting boost repeatedly and tried to low wake out (I know, don't low wake, just didn't have the time to select another system) after some time I jumped and as I was so close to the Mega ship I thought I'd make a run for it, yes he followed, yes he caught me and yes we had a bit of a fight over the interdiction and he won, the second I was out of supper cruise I repeated the process, boost, FA off, tumble, repeated boosts, even added in the occasional heat sink waiting for the FSD to cool down, then low wake and off again, this time, once into supper cruise I high waked out to another system.
Repaired and ready to try again, I select the system and jump back, 'Hyper Drive Tunnel unstable' (or words to that affect), I knew what was coming, I'd heard other commanders mention this though it's never happened to me. I was pulled out to be greeted by 4 interceptors, taking the advice of other commanders I stayed still, let them scan me and hoped they would move off, they did, though the way my day had gone it wouldn't have been a surprise if they opened up on me.
I'm still in the system at the moment fighting the fight, I don't know if I will ever be good enough to achieve my ambition to take out a Cyclops on my own but who knows. I will stay for a while and hone my skills with fixed weapons then it's back to the carrier. This will probably be my last log on this subject with a possible foot note should I ever get my Cyclops.
