The hunters and the hunted.

Bizarre things... There is a system quite nearby our space called Nepehuevit. In that system there are three harbours. 2 Outposts and a settlement, occupied and controlled by 3 local Imperial factions that until recently were at odds with other factions in systems nearby and apparently had quite a bit of a problem with deserters as well as chasing down a few enemy generals. Word was that their navies lost a few high-grade FDLs with them... Good pay for wanted men as well as a hefty reputation gain with the Imperials, just enough to make sure I stayed on their good side - say no more.A fly by of that system garnered about 10-15 contracts for deserters and pirates, all in a single nearby system - Gciri. Something about that place worked like a magnet for scum. This system is a total rat's ass with a single outpost manned by some tiny faction. and a few foreign embassies - if you could even call them that.
War ended, deserters are no longer a concern for the Imperials from Nepehuevit, so their attention has, once more, turned on the pirates of the Gciri Rats gang. Even better, though contracts were not so numerous any more.
I have thought I seen it all up until the latest hunt.
As all of you bounty hunters know - whenever you are on a hunt it is most likely that you are hunted as well at the same time by someone else. That was true in this case too.
While homing in on a pirate signal some few hundred light seconds away from my position another pirate had begun to interdict the Pointer, my Chieftain. An Anaconda. Wanted. Quick check revealed that I had to chase that one down as well anyways. I redistributed my power to half thrusters and full engines and prepared to submit myself to the interdiction.
We both dropped out of supercruise with a loud bang as the sound simulation systems' speakers overloaded for a second.
Mere split seconds before I pulled the trigger on my laser cannons another ship had just jumped out of her supercruise. Another Gciri Rat flying a Federal Corvette. Quick scan. Wanted. Warrant issued.
I'm fucked.
As I started to redistribute my "pips" once more to prepare myself for an attempt at retreat the Corvette suddenly turned herself on to the Anaconda and opened fire from every single orifice she could.
okay then...
I joined him with my own laser and multi-cannon volleys and we together made quick work of that Anaconda. Not a shield ring lost.
Some internal power struggle perhaps? Eh, none of my business.
The Corvette pilot, warrant said his name was Seth Khan, started to move away but I still had not finished my job here. I checked my distributor and quickly reloaded the cannons. Time to dance.
He must have suffered some damage from that Anaconda because for some reason he was only firing his Plasma Accelerators at me... and if anyone ever tried knows that hitting a Chieftain with one is no easy task.
We were dancing until his power plant exploded in a great fireball...
2 down. Plenty more to go. The night is young.
