Logbook entry

Farewell, Sidewinder.

Is it customary to keep a logbook? It's obviously completely optional, but is there any bonus? I suppose not, but it's fun.

I left Arcturus a while ago—probably the first time I have in decades—and got my Pilot's License. Tried and failed mining, got picked up by a seasoned pilot, collected bounties for a while. Honestly, it's been pretty fun. There's a certain thrill and justice in bounty hunting, though I suppose it's uncouth to find joy in assassinating others. I certainly got taught a lesson—ended up having to rebuy my Sidewinder, which was surprisingly cheap. Honestly, the Pilot's Federation just gives those things away.

Satisfied with my feeble million credits, I bought myself an Adder, found I wasn't great at bounty hunting, and tried mining again. This time, with eight tons of Painite in my hold, I netted a cool nine million by a freak coincidence of the market. I suspect my friends tire of me talking about it, but I will never forget that first sell. Now, Painite's not doing too hot in the galaxy. My next sells of thirty-two tons each netted me only around six million each. To combat this, I have a novel idea: let Painite cool off and go for Low Temperature Diamonds, which are doing much better.

Watching the market, now in my Cobra MKIII, has become a morning routine for me, and it's slightly relaxing. You can't get more relaxed than drifting in the space between planets, watching green and red arrows drift by your HUD. Drifting with friends is also fun, coincidentally. I dialed up a couple old friends—who aren't doing as well, turns out—and discovered that they don't share my passion for mining, which is understandable. Being the sentimental, lonely old coot I am, my new goal is to buy a secondary ship: a Vulture or similar for bounty hunting.

Time to try to break into Low Temperature Diamonds. I'll see you around the bubble, Commanders. O7
