July 10th 3302. The black is calling... But not yet, not yet.

I experienced it. I dropped down to Shu Babassi, see if the local Imperials would need an extra... hand, you know. Ever since I made Earl, I get some respect but I wanna hang with the people that could make me both rich and more appreciated in the Empire. Sadly, the friggin' independents were having a field day. That would get me money, sure, but I'm pretty good at getting that, so I don't need local yokels' handouts. I'll keep an eye on that rock, but for now there's nothing for me in there.I did learn that Paras' finest, the Achenar Immortals, are about to need a loooooot of exploration data, since they're about to expand. The first time around they did a lazy expansion, landing on Kartamayana, the closest system, but in less than two weeks they already had control of both the outposts. The planetary colony remains under the local Imperials. Unfortunately for me, the only large docking pads in the system, so I got to switch to the Python if I need to do business there.
So, basically, there's 130-ish light years between Paras and Shu Babassi. I got me a Detailed Surface scanner (always pack the advanced scanner, even on your itty-bitty trade tin can, word of the wise), and scanned system after system in an economic route. Most of them settled, most of them fairly populated, and some of them with a gazillion suns, planets and bodies. Still savin' the data for when AI's hit expansion.
In the meantime, working around Paras, doing odd jobs and hauling. I always say by the time I become Duke, I won't even need a gorram Cutter, but it's in the projects, so I'll totally get it. But now I've seen what's to be in the black, like, just flying around. Just an afternoon of hard work was enough to spike my interest... And now I can't wait to do it again. Yet, it's not the time. I gotta meet the self-imposed goals, and the team's. Once I got that, I can definitely take a vacation.
