Carrier's Log: Post Deployment

Captain's log; DSSA Humanities Sight; March 10th, 3307We've been out here a month, almost, just under in fact
I've noticed the crew are happy, there's always something new to see outside, and inside, the crew seem to be getting closer to each other. It really feels like we're a family. Gone are the days of "yes sire, no ma'am" and more to calling names "Kate, Lucy, Leo"
I should've stopped them, we are a carrier on a serious assignment here, to help people, to study the nebula in which is our new home, but I couldn't help but join in, it's normal, Human, we're no longer crew mates, we're family and friends now
There's not much to study, it's an old gas cloud, a few stars here and there, a planet or two for each one, I don't see appeal, and thankfully, I don't need to, that's the scientists job
We're paid well, 11Million credits a week, and enough coffee aboard to last us a year, so there's nothing we could fall short on, the boss left us a ship if we ever need to mine for whatever we need to mine for, though it can't go far anyway, we're using it as a hangout spot aboard, somewhere on the carrier, but not, it feels different, like we're back home, with it's own luxuries and uncomfortable spaces, not at all like the carrier, with space for days.
It may seem boring out here in the black, we're past Sag A* after all, but this is what I've always wanted, I've always promised myself I'll go somewhere, live somewhere nobody could think to live, and where else than 33,000 Light years away, just being here writing this report, i can see my crew in the bridge fumbling about the controls, Flight control commanding ships docking and leaving. I can see C-Deck where our Hydroponics works so hard, living out here comes with sacrifices and one is our appetite
But, yeah, that's this report, I'm going to send this to my commander, he lives a life of excitement back home, excitement of a different kind, shooting things and trading, not the life for me, I'm a solitary captain, and I'm in a very solitary place
