Better late than never I guess. Already two weeks into the expedition and figured a log would be helpful to keep myself from getting space madness.
I only started my exploration career a few months ago. This is my first full on expedition to new lands and I am excited to see the unseen, explore the unexplored, leave my mark on the galaxy, and of course, make a few credits along the way. It started off great. We met with fellow Alchemists in the home system of 59 Virginis for our first Mass Jump to kickstart the expedition. I was right in the middle of the chaos, but it was a beautiful site to see. Some other members of the other Alchemist sat in the back to take in the sites and get some great shots along the way. Following our jump, we all hopped aboard the Lunar Hyperlight, the official carrier of the Alchemy Den, and set off to the stars.
Our first stop was Gria Eork EP-A d0, more commonly known as Little Red Riding Hood. This first waypoint was farther out into the galaxy than I'd every even imagined I'd go when I first started, just over 8,900 Ly from my new home. Boy am I glad I was aboard that carrier because upon arrival, I quickly found that my top exploration ship, Moonshadow, with her 39 Ly jump capabilities, was dwarfed by the empty space around this star. ~70 Ly to the next system, Moonshadow and the crew bounced around Little Red taking in the vast empty space that lie before us.
We came back to our temporary home aboard the Hyperlight and decided we'd wait out the stop here. Getting to know the crewmates, and fellow members of our new exploration family. Who knows how long we'll stay, but for now, they seem like good folk.
Following our stay with Little Red, it was time to move again, this time to a much more populated area, a nebula in fact, NGC 3199 Sector LC-V c2-5. Here we could really start our trip among the stars.
Our first trip out from the safety of our carrier and I was nervous, I'd never been out this far, what could I find? What could find me? The excitement and nerves of having my name across these new systems was getting to me, and before I could think anymore, we set off. Fast forward two days and ~500 Ly, we had scanned and discovered many new systems, seen fantastic binary stars, water worlds, metal rich bodies, and of course a beautiful spinning neutron. Getting antsy to dive deeper and collect our first samples, we went for our first planetary landing. This didn't end well. Our first High-G planet, too much speed, and my thick-skulled idea to NOT include a shield on our exploration ship, caused the 30th loss of the expedition.
There went out discoveries, credits, my name among the stars.
Thankfully, it didn't mean the end of us. Since humanities discovery of the digital conscious network, and the improvements to 3D printing, death didn't mean the end. Instead, 1.5 million credits and a hell of a headache later, we were back on the Lunar Hyperlight, ready to set off again towards the stars.
This time, we made it back to our grave and an extra 200 Ly out, 600 Ly total now, before we had to return for the next Mass Jump and continue our journey. Upon arrival, we received a cool 17 mil for our efforts and discoveries, but I'm thinking there will be many, many more where that came from.
That leads us here. We jumped into our third stop, Smoju DA-Q d5-2. Crystal fields galore here, beautiful and strange things they area. Dwarfing the size of Moonshadow. We collected scans and data of these crystal structures and set off on our journey again for glory and credits. Currently, we are just over 1,000 Ly from the Hyperlight and have a few days left before the next jump. With regret, I still haven't added a shield generator to Moonshadow since we cannot purchase any new modules out int he deep black, but we might swap shields with one of our other ships aboard the Hyperlight to avoid any poor decisions and having to endure another rebuy.
so, now that we're all caught up. I'm gonna close the screen and continue our adventures. I'll try to keep these logs updated as we travel whenever new and fascinating discoveries are made. I want to continue another 500 Ly before we have to turn around, so maybe we will get lucky and find a binary neutron system. that we can cash in on.

Aha!
Just as I was starting to lose hope, we found something interesting! A triplet star system with planets galore! Four of which are highly interesting to me: two terraformable, high metal content worlds, a water world, and a new first for me, an ammonia world! I'm on the edge of my seat with excitement, but I'm also exhausted from the traveling today. We covered another ~200 Ly and the crew and ship both need some rest. First thing tomorrow we will explore our new discoveries!
