Mining here I come

After reading and watching all about the new Mining and all the new graphics I decided to spend some of my millions of credits on a new Asp Explorer and kit it out for some serious Mining. I cannot wait to get out there now but as always work rears its ugly head and I end ups being away from the Xbox again. I did manage to jump couple of systems and find an Icy ring to explore but then realised I had forgotten to stock up with Limpet drones 
Fortunately it will be a quick jump home when I am next on. If anyone has any tips on mining then they would be greatly received I have watched Obsidianant and his explanation was quite thorough so hopefully that will get me though. I am completely naked of any decent weapons though so I hope I won't get jumped as soon as my hold is full of diamonds and Opals.
I will you know how I get on once I have stocked up with Limpets etc.
