Rain Drop [08.01.3302]

Earth's a beauty tonight, as usual. The sun is rising over the Arabian sea, piercing the clouds with streaks of yellow and orange light. The people of the Middle East are just waking up, hell it's 05:00 galactic time and I haven't slept yet, not that I want to. The rumble of the Umbra's massive engines at near idle supercruise speeds has been my soundtrack for the last 18 hours. Something about the hum weaves itself a welcome mat no matter where in the stars she takes me.With the recent AI upgrade, Verity now manages a large portion of the ships systems. Her capacity is equal to a bridge of three or more, and she provides a nice veil between myself and insanity from all the time alone up here, even if she's a bit lippy.
Elvira Martuuk has been a strong compatriot as of late. She's introduced me to a number of her friends and has been quite generous in offering me her services. She's the reason I'm out here, watching the sun rays paint the ocean green. Combing, quite finely, for haulage vessels that have been blasted to bits by pirates, bounty hunters or zealots. Martuuk requested a number of components to attempt some modifications to the ships frameshift drive. As a war vessel, this Corvette is quite heavy, and as a result, doesn't quite have the jump range of a smaller explorer.
I've spent a large portion of my voyage parked outside of Galileo around Luna, scanning the wakes of outgoing traders, explorers, Federal agents and Imperal envoys, searching for anomalies in their data that may hold the key to increasing the optimal jump mass. People call them datamined wake exceptions, I personally call them a rain drop in the ocean. The comms tower must have been wondering what the hell I was doing; flying laps around the station for more than few hours while Verity pinpointed numerous signature locations and gathered as much data as possible. Thanks to her, we've gathered more than a few and have moved operations to Earth, looking for something apparently even more elusive: chemical manipulators. Looking for a rain drop in the ocean is now beating me in the face as the big blue world beneath comes alive.
I've reconsidered moving operations once again if fortune doesn't turn the tides, no pun intended. There's an anarchy system nearby, surely to be ripe with Hauler's and Keelback's, maybe some of those will have the manipulators I'm looking for. Can't say I'm a fan of gunning down civilians for simple components, but if I'm to find them I may not have a choice.
