I hired her as a pilot months ago... feels like years, that we've been flying together.She was "Harmless", when she started working for me. She was always talking about "the endless fights in CQC-Arenas", that she had been fighting in before.
Well, we didn't do CQC, instead we fought pirates. And a lot of them. The Deciat Blue Dragons don't hate us for nothing. It started as a defending job, where she would assist me guard valuable freight. We realized we were a good team, so we started bounty hunting on pirates.
And others. I saw her go up in rank, while flying for me. Some time ago she became "Elite". All while flying together with me.
I have to admit, I was proud of her. She grew to be a good pilot. And she grew together with me. As I fly bigger ships most of the time I figured it would be good to have a pilot on my side in the long term.
Well, that long term is over now.
We fought some Thargoids in HIP 16538 when we both chose a fight, which was too big for us. I came back, she didn't. Sometimes, it's not fair.
Well, what is fair, anyways. Life isn't. But it's the way it goes and we have to move along and we will manage in the end.
Ms. Randall, I raise this glass for you. To absent friends.
OOC: I took on the NPC pilot when we both were "Harmless" and she became "Elite" while being with me. I made this choice to have long term "only" 10% fighter salary.
My ship got destroyed and I paid the fee for her revival. I just now learned, that there is a bug in Elite, that your fighter pilot might not come back, even though you pay the fee. See here: Frontier issue tracker
It's not only the "invest" is gone, but I really feel a bit like I lost some company.
