02 August 3301 --- Just My Luck

Started the day off traveling in my Type-6 to a starport over in Federation space. They needed medicines to cure the Cerberus Plague over there, but to my laziness, I knocked out after docking. A few hours later, I'm staring in my little section before thinking it's a dumb idea traveling back and forth for medicines. It's not to say I don't care about those plagues with this disease, but I'm not taking the time to find where to travel in space that I'm not familiar with. So back I traveled to Chona, stopping at Zemina space to refuel and pick up some minerals to sell at Chona. The trip wasn't a complete waste fortunately.Looking through Aisling networks, I found some combat areas I could stop by. Windjet was where I had to go, but just my luck, the area needed to be scanned, and the Pirouette I took out there didn't have a scanner. I spent a good portion supercrusing through until I found some spot to jump into, but there was barely anything to go off of. After killing barely any pirates hovering there, I left, checking the net for another place to go to. HIP 93889 was listed as having a Resource Extraction Site.
I needed no other words.
After docking at Kibalchich Orbital, I got my ship prepped and flew out to the high intensity RES. What I encountered was surprising. I was normally used to seeing Vipers, Cobras, Eagles, Sidewinders, Adders, and the occasional Courier, but I found Clippers, Dropships, and Pythons. I was taken aback and a bit nervous now. Pirouette isn't as combat ready as Valiance is. The hull isn't as strong as it can be. The shields are junk compared to my Courier. My Class 5C Power Distributor isn't going to cut it.
Just my luck...
Pressing my fortune, I tackled the challenge, but they burn through my shields quickly. Valiance felt like my shining beacon of hope, but I continued fighting to see how this would last. While combat was more difficult, the bounties were much larger, some going over 100k. After sustaining heavy damage, I pulled out back to Kibalchich Orbital. After repairs, I checked to see how much I made, but in my haste, I left the station before claiming my bounties. I shook it off and went back to bounty hunting. Though what followed was not what I would have liked.
A Clipper was ahead of me and I began to tackle it. I was damage from prior fights, but I did my best. It broke through my shields at a point and my engines were knocked out. Things were catching on fire and sparks flew everywhere. I tried to repair my systems, but the hull became too compromised to do anything. I was force-ejected out of my Pirouette and I was down over 600k.
Just my luck...
What's even worse is that because my prior bounties were counting down and I blew up, they became dormant... and they got extended...
Just my luck...
This was really frustrating for me. I was down to just under 900k and I could only afford one more insurance payment if things got down to it. I shook my head and fled from the Orbital, supercrusing back to the RES. I took more caution as I worked with the authorities to take down pirate after pirate. I did my best to initiate fights with smaller targets while letting the authorities take aggro on larger targets. Some times I'd pull aggro to just drive them closer to authorities who would immediately fire upon the poor guy's shields and hull. After a long night, I left the scene and returned to the Orbital, learning to not overextend my luck this time. I guess Lady Luck was nodding at me as 3 million credits rolled into my bank account at the end of the day.
Just my luck I suppose.
