Received notification that I'd earned enough points and merits to warrant a promotion to Cadet in the Federation Navy. After running courier missions for the past day and a half this was a welcome reprieve.
Flew out to a Resource site at ROSS 145 after docking the last Courier mission. What I at first jumped into I was pretty well confused.
FSD'd in and landed just outside the range of two separate fleets. Both after scanning showed were wanted with bounties on their heads. Not a smart move on my part to engage either being a solo ship against three others, plus likely the other three would jump into the fray. So with that, I stayed about 2 klicks out and just mirrored their flight paths.
That's when all hell broke loose, one of the sidewinders spun and opened up on a Python from the other group. I'll tell you what my eyes about fell out of my head. Two literally what appeared to be pirate gangs just got into a turf war right in front of me.
I'll give that Sidewinder pilot this, he had some titanium swinging between his or her legs because it was giving that python some serious pain until its wing jumped into the fray. That's when it turned into a three on three free for all.
I wish I could have recorded the whole mess because it was one hell of a dog fight. Then all of a sudden you have two Federal Agents FDS in and they jump right into the middle of the remainder of the two gangs and just start laying down lasers and lead all over any target that moves. They were at least smart in taking the Python out first then shifted and started in on its wing mates. The other gang wing then started helping the federal agents!
Of course I jumped in, not to proud to say I'll take an easy target any day. Destroyed the two remaining craft from the Python wing, and that's when I suppose the Federal Agents decided enough was enough and they started in on the other wanted wing.
Came clear out of that whole mess with close to 3 mil in bounties to collect. And a hell of an interesting story. I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that gangs would get into fights over turf out here just never expected to run into it.
Likely starting my run back towards LHS 3447 Tomorrow.
