A quite eventful weekend

05 Oct 2015Grey Pilgrim
The fun started after a bit of pirate hunting and some other missions around Findja - with my decision to take the trip to Sothis. So I boarded my old ASP, exchanged my FSD Interdictor with a Fuel Scoop, and off we went into the void. It was a nice trip, scanning all systems on my way, and I delivered my 80 tons to the Community Target. I thought then I could just fetch another load of gold in one of the next systems, but slowly I understood why nearly all ships I scanned hat mining equipment on board: you can't buy gold at the rim, you have to find and extract it!

As I didn't have the nerves to re-fit my ASP and go mining once again, I started collecting pirate hunting missions - and there were aplenty. Seems they got a pirate problem, but nothing we can't solve. (After refitting a FSD Interdictos, that is.) Some successful missions later, it was time to rest for the night.

Back home I went on the next day, and tried my hand at hauling bacon from Cavins to Carnoeck. Got greedy and decided to dig into my funds to buy a bigger ship - a T-7 it was, and how much cargo it could hold! Selling it I would lose about 2 M, but shouldn't I be able to make more than that in just an hour of trading? And yes, I should - unless a pirating NCP Python will interdict me, hunt me down and shoot my ship to pieces. With its cargo, worth just a little less than 3 M, and some bounties and exploration data I just wanted to cash in after that trip. So, about 3.5 M short, I started grinding - for the first time. 10 times this way, and 10 times back again, ticking it off on a list, and boy was that no fun! Sure, I made more than 6 M in about 2 hours, noticeable more than usual, but I don't think trading is my way of life ... Sold the T-7 (didn't even get a picture of the ship!), came out with slightly less than 1 M for my worries, and I don't think I'll buy anything starting with "T" again anytime soon. But I got my Broker rank for my worries after all ...

Afterwards I went to Aymifa and Tamar, to work on my relationship with the Empire. Became Squire quite soon and decided to do the same at Tun, this time taking a more deliberate approach: paying the charity missions and stacking all the other mission were someone wants to have food, medicines, weapons or something else, switching and switching until I had about two or three dozens of them. Then I went through those missions and got myself a shopping list, visiting an agricultural, an industrial and a high-tech system (several times, as my ASP doesn't accomodate for than 80 tons), than cashing all those missions in and getting new ones. Thus I got my Chief Petty Officer and my Warrant Officer ranks within ~ 3 hours, and already did some missions towards the Ensign rank. (As long as I neither have the rank nor the money to buy and outfit an Imperial Clipper I will have to make do with one of its Federation counterparts, I think ...)

Enough promotions for one day - so I got back to pirate hunting and then to sleep.

On Sunday evening, I joined the Sidewinder Shootout again - and it was even more fun than last week, and outstandingly organized. This time I was not as much cannonfodder as last time, and even got one kill. Will certainly join next week again.

Oh, and today, out of the blue, I got a promotion opportunity with the Imperial Navy - I am know knighted.

A successful weekend, all in all.
