How (not) to cushion landing gears

So... I might, or might not have taxied Commander Foxi to a... not fully legal mission. (No, Ground Control is NOT an Uber.)Somebody might have messed up their mission, and required an urgent extraction by Scorpion.
Said Scorpion managed to bring quite some distance between the mess-up and us, but because somebody had pissed of so many ships, it still got blasted to smithereens, but not before somebody and poor old me manage to leave it.
Now how to get home?
Calling in Ground Control proved... dicey, as the pissed-off ships started shooting at her immediately. Shields were down 30m above ground level; when she touched down, hull was down to 73%.
Probably to soften the landing, somebody threw themselves under the landing gear. Yeah, I know, heroic deed, right?
Yours truly managed to board and lift off, still under fire, and trusty Ground Control managed to take me to safety, by the breadth of a hair. Or less - judge by yourself - check the hull percentage...
Somebody owes me...
... and who pays the ground crew for cleaning that landing gear? Yuk...
