27/10/3302 - Rearanging my fleet
27 Oct 2016Bie
Miney, my trusty mining ASP has sadly been retired. It had been showing its age recently, needing frequent maintenance. Also the daily wear and tear of mining in an asteroid belt was hard on the old girl. Last sortie with it an asteroid hit Miney's left flank, which led to a catastrophic hull breach. The emergency backup systems jumped into action, but those somehow overloaded my power generator. In short: I got to limp back to Lorenz Hub with half of my modules functioning. Decided to sell the ship instead of patching it up one last time. I will certainly miss that ship, but it had to be done.In the search for a replacement I found an old stripped down Federal navy Python for sale in 109 Piscium. It is an old hunk of metal, but it is generally in good condition and will suffice for my needs. It certainly has a bigger capacity and once I had stripped its modules and retrofitted my collectors, prospector and refinery it was ready to go. Even with the sale of Miney I didn't have enough cash on hand to actually buy the Python. That's why I also sold Taurus, my Type 7. It was not really being used and it was still in good condition, so it was only the logical thing to do. The name of my Python? ... Taurus... Yeah I know I'm not the most creative of souls.
Anyway, the first signs of stabilization in the Isla system are apparent. Less mining related missions are being posted and the demand for metals and minerals is leveling out. I'll carry on a bit more, but the gold rush is over for the time being.
