Out into the black

11 Feb 2021Gregorio Cortez
My first long range expedition is under way. First part of it took place between 7 and 9 Feb 3307. I'll describe it rather briefly.
I boarded two ships onto fleet carrier INV Imperator XFQ-55J. The destination was to travel to the top of the galaxy - Rackham's Peak.

One part of me wanted to see the views. The other - do business.
There was some 10k tons of Liquor to be delivered from V1K-10M Starpiercer to the station. So I took two ships. The DBX was fitted for the second part of the trip, ad T-6 was destined to be scrapped at the top just after unloading the cargo.

So I did as planned, earning about 50mil Cr hauling the goods, and watching the views.

But the second part of the journey was to begin.

I had the immense feeling that I need to go there into the void, in unengineered, vanilla fitted DBX just because something inside me wanted me to feel the thrill of exploration and loneliness of space.

Why? I think the answer is obvious. Nobody will ever remember trucker who hauled the most of cargo in the universe. Nobody remembers combat pilots whatever their skills are in anti xeno hunting. But everybody remembers the explorers, and their names are whispered with with appreciation.

I named my ship Hippalus after an ancient Greek explorer who mapped the western coast of Indian subcontinent. He is remembered after four thousand years isn't he?

So I did as I planned. On my way back boarded the V1K-10M Starpiercer and hopped off in Wregoe DG-O c22-0
Did some exploration on the top parts of the galaxy reaching in the highes point Plaa Trua TT-I d9-0 system
Then I started my trip aiming roughly into to the Eta Carinae direction.

Currently in previously undiscovered system Pro Eurl QS-V b5-0 roughly 1500Ly from Sol.
