3301, Aug 6th - Band of Brothers

August, 6th 3301It's been three quarters of a year since I took up a career as space jockey. Like so many I wanted to live the dream. Go where no man has gone before.
What a load of bullshit that turned out to be.
In my time I have learned a hard lesson or two, but the hardest is without a doubt that the Galaxy is vast... and dark... and full of scumbags, who will not hesitate to take from you that what you have been working so hard for to gain.
My lone endeavor was pretty futile in hindsight, but yesterday my luck seem to have taken a turn for the better! An old buddy (Cmdr. DonCorleone) reached out and offered to introduce me to a group he had been working for for some time now.
Protection, Outfitting and Income wouldn't be a worry anymore, he claimed.
Running a background check on them revealed nothing. I had no way of telling wether this was bad news or not, but if he deemed them trustworthy then I had not reason not to.
I had a long journey ahead of me until I could meet up in person though. 167ly in a Sidey isn't something to sneeze at, but the groups liason Cmdr. Certacito contacted me around 1/3 of the way in.
Good thing too, because my ship was running on fumes and because of the stock FSD still installed I was in danger of becoming a floating piece of junk metal for eternity.
He had been informed by DonCorleone of me being inbound and he knew my Sidey would be unable to make the journey without help.
He met me about halfway with a ship configured as a refuel tender.
Just prior to Cmdr. Certacito arriving I was interdicted by an Imperial Courier which almost ruined my plans in the last minute... My Sidewinder took a harsh beating. My hull was down to 35% with warning horns screaming all around me when Certacito jumped in, causing the attention of the Courier to shift to him and giving me a chance to boost out of the fight.
Not long after we both were able to disengage. I could refuel and we made an uneventful pass to Ebana, 'our' home system.
DonCorleone was waiting with some cargo I could take for a quick cash boost and soon after I could buy my very own Cobra Mark III and had cash to equip it properly.
Turns out these guys are pretty welcoming! Thanks guys!
Are they pirates? Are they Mercs? I have no idea yet, but I do know that I am treated as a Brother in Arms. So as far as I am concerned, these are my Band of Brothers, I now call home...
