Back in Cubeo today

I put in for some leave and they gave me a week off, so I thought to follow up on some leads about some planets about 1,500 lys out from Cubeo having a bunch of raw materials resources.

Hopped into the Euclid and made it all the way out there only to realize I forgot to put a DSS on the thing. Lucky for me one of these Fleet Carriers had an outfitter aboard and was willing to set me up with one, even if it was at double the price of most other places. I suppose if you're already out there, though, paying double for a DSS is the least inconvenient business model to have to work with. Either way, I showed the FCCMDR my appreciation by calling over Drake and loading up on Tritium before donating it and being on my way.

I've never been out that way before, but the folks at Turner Metallics weren't kidding around. The SRV's hud called those things "Crystal Clusters" but they're really more like spires. I even got one caught in between my wheels after a bad half-jumping turn that cost me an SRV.

Decided to head back to Cubeo to see if I could unload some of this UC data and made a couple million credits in the process, with UC giving me some minor award saying something about me mapping Celaeno, with it's black, white-ringed interior planet. Maybe I'll post some photos of it if I swing back around that way.

Something's definitely up, here at Chelomey. These Prismatic Imperium guys are always generally all over the place, but as soon as I stepped off the Euclid, it was stares and whispers. Maybe they heard about me shooting down one of Aisling's Guardians after having already been frozen out of Imperial Navy advancement. Maybe word about me and the diplo got around. There was just something different about the quality of their eyes today.

I'm used to people looking at me, especially the guys in their flight suits. That's nothing special. That's mixed grain oats. Even some of the women in flight suits look over every once in a while, which is far less disturbing, but its usually followed by some maternal chiding of the guys. Sometimes, even worse, its followed by some attempt at providing me with some comforting words and thoughts, which is sort of like telling a pet rock that it's being very good and quiet today.

I suppose they pay well-enough. They generally kept me afloat in my early days back in Cubeo and a lot of them probably overlooked how young I was and just kept throwing me the work here and there. I dunno. I sent a message over about the possibility of some future work once once the hold on my rank gets lifted, maybe they'll get back to me.

I suppose I ought get back to Alioth to check in about whether they're gonna want me to break leave for this Galactic Summit gig.
