I stand corrected

I stopped through Chelomey today to deliver some pledges for The Empress before reporting to Couper for reassignment. The Imperial Navy shipyard had a couple of Capital ships docked for repairs and I think I know what I'm gonna be saving up for.

When I arrived at Couper there was someone waiting for me at the platform and he explained to me in not so uncertain terms that word had gotten out about me referring to Torval as a "witch." I laughed when it said it because the look on his face went from anger to repulsion. I expect it was because the look in my eyes as soon as her name left his mouth told him "Yes. I said it. Yes I meant it. She's 400 years old. Normal people don't live that long."

He immediately commanded me to report to the control center at my platform and I was met with a disapproving look from the diplo that handed me my orders. I was hereby assigned to report to the Federation system of Sanos to monitor the developing situation. Apparently, Shadow President Felicia Winters has been having a rough go at it for the past month, having many systems fall into disorder. With Sanos being fairly close to systems controlled by The Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duvall, I'm being tasked with reporting on the possibility of any spillover of the conflict between the various factions pledged to the Independent powers and Federation and/or the possibility that any of the piracy that tends to come with the production of an ungovernable state might grow into something that could affect trade. Something like that. He was speaking in super rushed tones and through clenched teeth most of the conversation.

I mentioned that I'd run into some CMDR's at various points by way of my trade and other activities. CMDR Inf3ctd offered me a chance to embed with his team for a while and he could show me the ropes, and when I mentioned it to the diplo he said it couldn't hurt to be associated with a Federation affiliated group while I was fulfilling the orders. CMDR Inf3ctd calls his team Callsign Covid, which was apparently the nickname of some badass that single-handedly fisted the whole of the Earth well before our ancestors hopped aboard the generation ships.

Before I left he grabbed me by the arm and said, "Its an auxiliary force. If any of these Federation loyalists hear you call it the Reserve they'll have you in a pod on your way toward Sagitarius A* before you know it."

Oh... oops.

As it lays, The Federation affiliated Sanos Services is in civil war with the independently affiliated Sanos Burea, with the latter's dictatorial government declaring its people happy with its governance and the former's reporting the same about its own.

The Federal Liberal Command still maintains control over the system.

I've been given specific orders to stay out of any local conflicts in the system and to avoid any work that might further destabilize the system and/or make it appear as though my presence was intended to probe the system for weaknesses that might be exploited by the Empire.

I'll have to dock at each station in the system and report back about the various conflicts before undertaking a full scan of the system and according to my orders I'll be here indefinitely, or at least until mid-May; We left Sol over a millennia ago and I'm here until "May" because no one has been able to centralize power and impose a new galactic calendar system. Kind of thing the man in the black suit would tell me and start laughing about.
