Received an invitation to Sol on attaining the rate of Petty Officer of the Federal Auxiliary and made the trip to our ancestral home.
A lot of history, here, and it seems like little has changed in the 1,200 years since we've left.
The Galactic Summit began a couple of days ago. The meeting was called to try to ease tensions between the Empire and The Federation after a successful assassination attempt of a member of the Imperial family by a group of Imperial rebels called the Marlinists. One of the more important space craft production corporations was nearly taken apart by an attempted takeover by another huge corporation that, itself, was stopped after the exposure of its CEO as directly responsible for an attempted assassination that put President Zachary Hudson into office. The previous president is sitting there as a guest of the current shadow president of the Federation, who's current vice president is the mother of both the CEO and the man once promised to the Empress as a husband, who is a high-level member of the Federal Navy. The Empress herself is also in attendance, along with Senator Patreus, whose security detail assassinated the previous Emperor, grandfather of the Empress, and bastard father of the current Emperor. The Summit itself resulted in the delay of the Alliance Prime ministerial election, which resulted in the protests that resulted in my move from Alioth over to Sanos.
All this as I sit here on a glacier atop Europa, once thought to be a new potential home for Humanity, with its volatile water magma.
