The Day the System Burned

Commanders Log, Entry number 1, March 12th, 3307:I've only just now been updated on situations involving the entirety of the system. Being engrossed into flight school and other hobbies as of late, I was shocked to see the chaos that was in the newsfeed.
All three capital systems, along with six other sites, were bombed by biological and chemical weaponry, which set off starport protocols as if they were attacked by Thargoids. The Neo-Marlinist Liberation Army (NMLA), a terrorist group that I've only recently heard about, claimed full responsibility for the bombings. Being a relatively new commander to my vessels, I wasn't sure about most things that have happened prior to my first time flying free within and out of the Pilot's Federation systems.
With a little update from close sources, I have a small but weak grasp on what the NMLA is and their history, particularly within the Empire and their escape to Federation and Alliance systems. Their actions behind the what I've been told have been known to the empire for some time, and bad blood between Federation and Imperial systems may have made the Federation unintentionally turn a blind eye. The Alliance of course, being the neutral superpower they are between the Federation and the Empire, freely accepted refugees from Imperial systems.
That's all the basic details that I know. I wish I could know more, but I also understand that bias can play a factor. Any sources that I learn can be swayed to one side or another. Because of that, I may need to take matters into my own hands. Some close sources of mine informed me of some military ground-based cargo that was moving around more frequently than it has in the past. They speculate that commanders may soon be able to purchase these materials for ground-based combat and transversal. That might just be my ticket into learning what's really going on.
Blind eyes have ears to hear, and even though I may not be blind myself to the full situation, I also can't see everything that's been clouded around me. It may be time to take a step into the darkness, and do some more...covert...operations. I know I could die doing missions like this, but the best way to learn the truth is the source. With that in mind, I'll have to see where I can extend my capabilities through whatever I can acquire.
For now, I'll be assisting the evacuation and repair efforts across the systems. Knowing the history of terrorist organizations in the past, they are already steps ahead of all the superpowers at play. I'm hoping that what little assistance that I and others can give will afford them time to adjust where their attention needs to lie. If we fall any further behind, I fear we may be too late to stop whatever is coming
