The plan was to stay out in the black. Explore. See everything I could identify. Sample every bit of life I could.
And then Saud Kruger happened. Bonus cash from CGs, which meant the Pilot's Federation would back my claims. Didn't exactly leave me a choice. So, I changed course again, and doubled back to deliver the data I had collected. Why?
Elite.
Has a nice ring to it, yeah? Elite. Elite. Admittedly, overall it doesn't exactly have much of an impact. My engines are still the engines the Radiant had yesterday. Still the same mining lasers. Hell, I don't even have better upholstery in the pilot's chair (and you notice that sort of shit several thousand light years on!) But no, I just got a better mark for the Radiant's hull. Elite. I will admit, and this will sound strange, but I think it'll make exploring easier. The pressure's off. "This system's worth X, that system's worth Y" and I don't *care.* I have elite ranking. Not gonna get much better than that, right? (I am aware of elite 1, 2, etc. Don't care. Not my goal.)
Of course, after doing that, I had to finish off my ranking for trade; that was simple. I fitted my cutter for cargo, hauled some palladium done. Bing, bang, boom. Second elite. Not really difficult, just... sell stuff, earn credits that I won't actually care about once I take the Radiant back out into the dark. Part of me wants to rank up my rating in combat, as well, but... that implies sticking around in the bubble.
I'm not sure I'm up for that.
