INTERVIEW: TAPE 2
16 Mar 2021CMDR Vypr
GALNET REPORTER: Why did you initially fall in with Yuri Grom? What lead you here?VYPR: I grew up on a world like this one below us. Blue skies, clear water, unpolluted utopia. I grew up on a ranch like you see in old history pict-books they teach you from in schools. Wanted for very little, had even less, but enjoyed a good life.
GR: And what changed?
VYPR: The Federation established a trading outpost near us. It was good news at first. Faster income, better lives for everyone.
GR: And that turned you into the man you are today?
VYPR: Not really. It's what that trading outpost became. Profits from our livestock brought increased attention to the region. Soon, some corporation was building resorts on the nearby ridgelines overlooking the plains. Then roads were built where there were previously dirt tracks in the soil. Tourists came wanting to ride horses. Well dressed business men with clean hats and soft hands bought land, and brought their ways with them. Soon counties were established. Rules selectively enforced to benefit those with the most money. Suddenly simple living on unspoiled land became a pissing contest on dying sand. Factories were built with the intention of first selling to us, the locals, then to each other, and finally off world. Rivers became polluted. Neighboring farms saw massive crop death. A lake I used to fish in as a kid became an acid pool. What kind of monster could take a pristine land like this and turn it into a cess pool full of off-worlders and oblivious soft-handed freaks with purple hair who paid good money to pretend to be what I was my whole life?
GR: And you hated them for it?
VYPR: I hated them for what they turned that fertile country into.
