INTERVIEW: TAPE 5
18 Mar 2021CMDR Vypr
GALNET REPORTER: Last we saw each other; you had informed me that you were a wanted insurrectionist.VYPR: Yeah, I remember.
GR: And what happened after you low-waked to orbit?
VYPR: That's an even longer story. I'll spare you most of it. I ended up leaving the system, joining a...pirate faction at first. It was a misguided attempt. Then I lost my ship, went to prison, and in the pen I met a fella who told me to meet somebody somewhere, and fell in with the EG pilots.
GR: And that's all?
VYPR: Not really, no. But it is for you.
GR: I see.
VYPR: I suppose I can tell you this much; they're better people than the Federation makes them out to be.
GR: Good people don't smuggle guns into vulnerable systems, start civil wars, and get innocent people killed.
VYPR: There's always two sides to a story. You know this better than anyone. Those people weren't manipulated. Maybe "nudged" is the right word. "Inspired" maybe. But the sentiment was already there before we intervened.
GR: I think most people would say the problem isn't the sentiment, it's the fact you intervene at all. Why even get involved?
VYPR: Because for those people, liberation from the Federation is an important enough idea to make them do something most people would never dream of, especially in the Federation. We are heros to those people, fighting the good fight against corporate tyranny and helping them recover their identities. And for us, we have another ally in a long list of allied systems who will help us push the Federation back to Sol.
GR: And what about the people who are loyal to the Federation who have to live through those consequences? Are you heroes to them, too?
VYPR: A hero to one people will always be a villain to another. And in time, those same people who lived subserviently under the boots of the Federation will likely come to appreciate the newfound ability to pursue higher ideals than the endless pursuit of profit, or toiling away to simply keep the water running to their quarters.
GR: And what if they don't?
VYPR: They're always free to run back to their masters. But I'll tell you this from personal experience; a bull who leaves the pen ain't getting back in without some fight.
